Reviews Summary

Frenchie is widely praised for its exceptional culinary artistry, delivering creative and delicious five-course tasting menus with thoughtful wine pairings in an intimate, rustic-chic setting. While the food and ambiance receive rave reviews, some diners have noted that the menu can sometimes lean too heavily on acidic or sour notes, and service, while generally attentive, can occasionally feel hurried or overlook special occasions.

"We travel to try the best food and our experience at Frenchie was one of our absolute favorites. The food was the perfect balance of adventurous while being comforting. Through each dish, we could see and taste the attention to detail and thoughtfulness of the chef and his team. The service was excellent - it was intimate and did not waver for a moment. The wine pairing truly enhanced every bite. The entire team - front and back of house - was working from a place of pride and extending love in the form of service. Every employee was knowledgeable and added their own magic to the evening. We had the most incredible time and I could sing from the rooftops that Frenchie is the dinner you dream about when you dream about your Paris culinary finds."

Jennifer Simmons

"Frenchie has a great reputation, and while the ambiance and service were truly top-notch—the servers were absolutely amazing, 10/10—the food didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

Most of the savory dishes leaned too heavily on citrus, vinegar, or sour elements, and lacked balance. The lamb dish, in particular, was disappointing.

While the wine pairing seemed thoughtfully curated for those who drink, there was no real alternative offered for non-drinkers—and it’s unclear if we’re charged the same either way, which feels a bit off.

That said, the staff were warm, knowledgeable, and made the experience enjoyable despite the food not fully landing for me."

Kholofelo Rakabe

"Just a decent food experience, not worth experiencing when it comes to one star Michelin dining in my opinion. The service was friendly, a bit hurried at times. The dishes were not outstanding, the entrees were fine. The main fish dish wasn’t balanced and too acidic and the meat did not meet my expectations. The desert was good. Overall I would not come back here, price/value/finesse/taste/ambience is not satisfying"

10 of the best bistros in Paris | Paris holidays

The news that chef Gregory Marchand is expanding his tiny bistro in Le Sentier, Paris's old garment district, into a twin space opposite the original address in the small pedestrian lane where it's located has Paris abuzz, which tells you a lot about the impact the place has had since it opened in 2009. Originally from Nantes, Marchand cooked at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen in London and Danny Meyer's Gramercy Tavern in New York before returning to Paris to open his own place. The atmosphere at his tiny exposed-brick space with factory lamps and a minuscule kitchen nods at his Anglo-American experience as much as his brief market-driven menus do.

Restaurants in Paris

Set in a brick- and stone-walled building on a pedestrian street near Rue Montorgueil, Frenchie has quickly become one of the most hard-to-book bistros in town, with tables reserved months in advance, despite two seatings each evening. This success is due to the good-value, €140 five-course dinner menu (prix fixe only); boldly flavored dishes such as calamari gazpacho with squash blossoms or melt-in-the-mouth braised lamb with roasted eggplant and spinach are excellent options. Service can be, shall we say, a tad brusque, but for some that's a small price to pay for food this good.

Street food in Paris | 100 best restaurants

We love this New York deli-style takeaway sandwich bar, all in a simple and soigné décor of stone, wood and metal. It's the latest addition to the Frenchie family by Grégory Marchand and his team, so naturally wildly popular – come early to avoid the queues, and place your order at a large bar loaded with scones, cakes, cookies and muffins. If you’re lucky, you’ll get a seat inside, but more likely you’ll end up on one of the peaceful benches set around the streets and squares of Paris's ‘Little Egypt’...

Where To Go For The Best Breakfast In Paris

Frenchie To Go owner Greg Marchand is a darling of the French food scene and is regularly called le prince de la pop food (the prince of popular food). After opening two successful venues – the Frenchie restaurant and Frenchie Bar à Vins – Marchand started the unapologetically New Yorkais Frenchie To Go. This is American fast food with a French twist; everything is made in-house and sourced with close attention to freshness, quality and flavour.

An offshoot of the popular Frenchie restaurant, F.T.G. But they do offer delicious, elevated spins on basic breakfast foods, plus housemade pastries like their crumbly, bacon-and-maple scones.
