What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Aux Bons Crus offers a beloved traditional Parisian bistro experience with hearty French classics and an extensive wine list. Diners praise the friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and generous portions, with standouts like escargot and steak au poivre. However, some reviews mention inconsistent quality in certain dishes and occasional issues with service, leading to a mixed, though generally positive, dining experience.
"This place really takes you back in time. Tha atmosphere reminds of a traditional and popular Parisian bistrot. But don’t be fooled by this as the dishes have an exquisite modern approach to a more traditional cuisine. We got the chicken and beef with pepper sauce which was insanely good. Moreover if you are a wine lover you’ll find so many options here. Definitely a bistrot as we like ❤️!
PS only suggestion to include some vegetarian options."

"I don’t really get the hype… eggs were just eggs with mayonnaise, beans were just cooked beans with olive oil with lemon (the olive oil was really good tho). The meat… sinewy, stringy and tough. Hard to cut, hard to chew on. The fish quenelle I’ve never tried before so not sure how it should taste. We left half of the food and didn’t dare to try the dessert. The best about this lunch was the baguette and batter. The place was very cozy with cute paper tablecloth and Disney mustard jars. It seems to be popular among French people so maybe we were unlucky, but this wasn’t a great culinary experience that we expected after reading all the reviews."

This is a traditional French style diner. The escargot are must have dish! All of the plates were rich and delicious."

The 44 best restaurants in Paris right now
Today, Aux Bons Crus is one of a rare few Parisian establishments to display the iconic sign proudly. You won’t find many hauliers here in the hip 11th, but you will find a hearty meal, charmingly old-fashioned red-check tablecloths and welcoming, down-to-earth service. Especially after a long day of sightseeing, there’s no better combination than the frisée aux lardons with a poached egg to start, followed by a slab of entrecôte that begs to be smothered with their deliciously unctuous béarnaise.
The "Best" of Paris
When we just want a simple French meal without pretense and a friendly welcome, we head to Aux Bons Crus. The typewritten menu lists the standards, including leeks vinaigrette, œufs mayonnaise, and a frisée salad with bacon, and the daily specials on the chalkboard reinforce their commitment to the French classics, like chicken in vin jaune and pistachio-flecked sausages. The prices are fair, and the only time I’ve ever had something I really didn’t like was an unfortunate salade Niçoise.
my favorite Paris Restaurants
54 rue Godefroy Cavaignac, 11th, tel: 01 45 67 21 13, (M: Voltaire) An ode to “les Routiers,” French truck stops, known for their hearty cooking, this cosmopolitan version does very respectable versions of French classics at modest prices. Steak frites with Béarnaise sauce, Tête de veau, Stuffed cabbage Œufs mayonnaise, Endive salad with bacon and poached egg, as well as massive desserts, are devoured by locals along with pitchers (or bottles) of wine. Very friendly service.
