Excuse me while I show you THEE single most iconic restaurant in Nice France. Make reservations months or at least weeks ahead of time because it books up fast. We didnt find reservations when I looked 2 weeks before but we went anyway. Showed up an hour before sunset and we were able to sit in the downstairs bar area (you can order food there as well). Word of advice when booking La Plongeoir in Nice. There are 2 restaurants next to each other. La Reserve is next to La Plongeoir. It has a rooftop. We booked that one thinking it was La Plongeoir. But there's only 4 tiny morsels to choose from in the La Reserve rooftop tapas menu. The view was still nice but the rooftop was giving fancy pub garden vibes. Both are nice but check properly. Reviews Summary

Le Plongeoir offers an unforgettable dining experience with its spectacular seaside location and romantic ambiance. Guests rave about the stunning views, attentive service, and delicious food, particularly the truffle rigatoni and fresh seafood. While some reviews mention slow service or disappointing starters, the overall consensus is that the unique setting and memorable meals make it a must-visit in Nice.

"Don’t listen to the bad reviews because this place was actually incredible. Got seated right at our reservation time and the views were amazing. The service was quick and the food/cocktails were delicious. Keep in mind though that reservations fill up quick. We made our reservation online >3 months in advance because we knew it would be peak season. Some people get disappointed that there are only spots at the bar, but you just need to make a reservation far in advance if you know you’ll be in Nice at a certain time. To finish off the night, the owner came around to each table and asked how the meal was. A classy end to a lovely dinner. Would definitely go back!!!!"

Nicole Gatzios

"Hands down one of the most uniquely located restaurants in Nice, perched dramatically above the sea, it offers an absolutely stunning ambiance that sets the tone for a memorable evening.

Our meal got off to a slow start both in terms of the starters and the service. We ordered the tuna sashimi and the grilled octopus, and unfortunately, both were underwhelming. The flavors didn’t quite deliver, and given the restaurant’s reputation, we expected more. Olives in the octopus dish for example made it way more salty and underwhelmed the grilled taste altogether and as well the octopus had a more after taste to it.

There was also a noticeable delay in receiving our entrees, which tested our patience a bit. However, when the food finally arrived, it was well worth the wait. The rigatoni was rich and full of flavor, and the sea bass was perfectly cooked along with the other veggies though the olives could have been done away with from the dish, fresh, delicate, and beautifully plated.

Lucas, our host, was truly fantastic, friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the evening. His service made a big difference in our overall experience.

To finish, we shared a lemon tart, and it was flawless bright, tangy, and a perfect ending to the meal.

In summary, despite the slow service and disappointing starters, the incredible setting, excellent mains, delicious dessert, and outstanding service from Lucas made it a night to remember. Worth visiting, just come with a bit of patience and choose your dishes carefully."

"I absolutely loved my time at this place! The location in Nice is absolutely beautiful, and the food was delicious. What really made the experience was the staff—they were so friendly and helpful from start to finish. A quick heads-up: make sure you book a table for the restaurant ahead of time, because it gets busy. The bar, however, is open to everyone without a reservation. Honestly, if you're in Nice, you have to go here. It’s perfect for the food and the incredible scenery."

The Best Breakfast And Brunch Spots In Nice, According To A Local Food Expert

Perched on a large freestanding rock in the sea, the restaurant is just below the city’s municipal diving boards. The space has an interesting history as it was first built during the Belle Époque, when the restaurant was in the shape of a ship. The restaurant was renovated in 1941 and now, 80 years later, sits on the two rock pillars, where diners can order pastries and fresh seafood on the seaside patio.

Nice Travel Guide - Best Places to Visit and Eat At

At the end of the 19th century, a fishing boat was secured to a rock pillar just off the coast of Nice, where guests ate and drank 20 feet above the sea below. The vessel was ultimately damaged and removed, but the restaurant, Le Plongeoir, was reimagined and remains perched at the top of those same rocks today. Start with a delicious “The Signature Diving Board” drink (a nod to the restaurant’s diving boards), which is like an Aperol Spritz but with peach juice (our server told us George Clooney ordered two rounds when he was there recently), and nosh on zucchini flower fritters and seafood.

Perched on a rocky outcrop just off the Nice coast, in its early carnation as a glamorous ship placed on the rock, Le Plongeoir restaurant epitomised everything that was great about the Belle Époque era – a sense of daring, fun, optimism and debauchery. Today the dive boards from which carefree diners once launched themselves into the sea are just for show, but the views are still sensational, as is the food, which includes locally sourced ingredients imbued with Mediterranean flavour. If you are looking for fine dining in Nice, France, with a heavy dose of glamour, this is it.
