Le Bouchon des Filles is celebrated for its authentic Lyonnaise cuisine, cooked with love and served in generous portions, offering excellent value for money. Diners particularly praise the cozy and intimate atmosphere, warm service, and the thoughtful inclusion of vegetarian options. "Had a good time here - great food and vibes.
Had Quenelles (A light, fluffy dumpling made from fish (usually pike) in a creamy Nantua sauce) for the main and it is so delicious
Definitely must go when you are in lyon"

"Finally! We were ready to give up on eating in Bouchon because the last 2 we had was not to our liking and we tried this restaurant. YES!
The place was packed but we still had spaces in between to have some delineation and privacy. That I appreciated.
Like any Bouchon, you are served with appetizers they prepare for the day, you order a main, you have cheese for the day, then you choose a dessert.
For appetizers, we had lentils, beetroots with mackerel, pork cheeks with salad. They were all good! For mains: we ordered the hanger steak with shallot sauce and mashed potatoes - all very good. Steak cooked right, sauce was flavorful and mashed potatoes creamy just the way I like it. We also ordered the Grilled Andouillette- a pork sausage with mustard sauce and mashed potatoes. It was also very good. We were served a glass of creamy cauliflower ( a surprisingly good refreshing palate cleanser). Then came the cheese - both good and ending with chocolate fondant and Praline. We ordered red wine which went well with all the dishes!
The place was packed but the 2 servers were patient when explaining the menu and describing each dish when they serve it on your table. They were attentive and knew when you were ready for the next dish.
Compliments to the Chef and Servers! A must try Bouchon when in Lyon"

"Another great dining experience in France and incredibly good food. I was lucky I got a good seat where I was able to watch the two chefs at work who were calm composed and delivered some of the finest food I have ever enjoyed in France. The food was very generously proportion, and it was very fine and sophisticated, much more than other food I have had in Buchons in lyon. Very good value too for the quality of the food and the service. And once I told the staff I was vegetarian, they offered dishes to suit my taste and wow what incredible food I had. I simply don't have the words to do to find how good it was, tasty and top-quality. When I eat far more expensive in Sydney, I'm usually bombarded with salt very often, mediocre quality ingredients, even at very expensive restaurants. It is such a privilege to eat so well and for such good prices."

An expert travel guide to Lyon
Local dining: When eating in a bouchon (Lyonnais bistro) don’t be surprised if the waiter asks you to keep the same knife and fork for the duration of your meal – lick it clean discretely with the final bite of your entrée (starter) and place it back down on the table either side of your plate waiting to be cleared. Equally standard is for the final addition (bill) to be totted up with a pen on the paper red-and-white-checked tablecloth. House wine is always served in un pot (a thick-bottomed glass bottle distinctive to Lyon).
Where to Eat in Lyon, France’s Capital of Gastronomy
You’re in Lyon so you should go to a bouchon, and this charming and satisfying women-owned and -run restaurant offers a textbook but “light” version of the city’s traditional dishes. Compared to other bouchons, proportions are scaled back and the dishes, while by no means spa food (lentil salad is spiked with sausage; cabbage salad is spiked with smoked fish), are still satisfying. It’s the perfect place to get a taste of the local cuisine while still allowing room for more contemporary culinary exploration.

Isabelle, Laura and Agathe took over this ancient bouchon six years ago, and it has been fully booked ever since. There is an electric atmosphere every evening as diners settle in for a meal of epic proportions. "We don't do two servings," explains Isabelle, "as it takes all evening to get through all the courses, and the idea here is not to be rushed - neither the chef nor the customers." For that reason, they don't offer a "dish of the day" or lighter set menu at lunch.
The Local Restaurants You Must Visit In Lyon
The female owners of this contemporary play on the classic bouchon first met while waitressing at Le Café des Fédérations. They seek to deliver an authentic experience – albeit with lighter food options than most Lyonnais menus. Vanel loves this restaurant, which she describes as “slightly more rewarding intellectually” than some other more classic bouchons, “with interesting twists on a solid foundation of tradition”.

Traditional bistros, known as bouchons, are a culinary staple in Lyon. Their existence stems from the city’s rich history as a centre for silk-making and trading, when workers needed somewhere cheap to eat. There are dozens around Lyon, and one of the best is Le Bouchon des Filles, in the Croix-Rousse district.

Only Lyon: for a fabulous foodie weekend in France
Our final Lyonnaise dinner that evening was at Bouchon des Filles, which in keeping with tradition is a female-only operation. It’s a small place but makes a big impact. The set menu had excellent options including veggie ones and there were little extras between courses as well as a cheese course and delicious desserts.
