Reviews Summary
Diners consistently praise L'AMI TOULOUSAIN for its authentic regional cuisine, particularly the highly recommended Garbure and Roquefort salad. The personalized and friendly service from owner Frederick is a frequent highlight, creating a welcoming atmosphere. While some mention the stew can be slightly salty, the overall experience is described as comforting, delicious, and great value, making it a highly recommended spot away from the main tourist traps.
"The lunch set came with a salad with Roquefort which tasted like blue cheese and one of my favourite cheeses so am totally pleased. The main was a garbure with vegetables (beans, carrots, potatoes) stewed with a duck drumstick and pork. The duck was so well cooked that the meat fell off the bone and the pork was extremely tender. Has home-cook vibes and extremely comforting. The service was impeccable, everyone was amazingly friendly and kind."

"What a treat to dine with Frédéric in Lourdes! He is such a wonderful and passionate host who serves the most unassuming delicious food of the region 🇫🇷 we felt so welcomed and had so much fun chatting with him between meals!
We started with a vibrant serving of salad topped with a healthy serving of Roquefort and a side of baguette 🥖
This was a first time for us to try the Garbure dish and yet the flavors are totally reminiscent of home 🥘 a duck confit stewed with greens 🥬, beans 🫘, and potatoes 🥔, balanced with an herby savoury broth 😋 every spoonful was delicious!
We ended the meal with a rich fondant au chocolat (gluten free, made with buckwheat (sarrasine)!) 🍫 🍰
Thank you Frédéric ❤️💌"

"This restaurant is located away from the main thoroughfare of commercial shops and tourist cafes.
Came here for lunch with my family of six, including two old folks and two young kids on a weekday. The owner was very welcoming. He prepares, cooks, serves, clears and washes up all by himself. Yet he still served with a smile and humour.
There is only one set menu to order - consisting of 1) a cheese salad, 2) a duck confit stew (traditional Occitan garbure) and 3) coffee with dessert (chocolate cake and muffin). All for just €18. We ordered 4 sets, which was sufficient for the six of us. Special mention should be given to the duck, which slides off the bone easily and the tasty stew, although it’s slightly salty. The owner was also flexible enough to swap tea for coffee for those who couldn’t take coffee.
Overall a good experience and definitely not a tourist trap. Will return again when I’m back in Lourdes."
