Return to where the French Riviera legend truly began, at the gloriously pretty Plage de la Garoupe. This stunning powder-white sand beach is where an American socialite couple called the Murphys launched the French Riviera as a summertime destination in the 1920s, clearing the beach of seaweed and fishing nets and inviting Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Picasso to sunbathe and swim in the crystal clear waters. Today, Plage Keller is the pick of the beach clubs along this pretty cove, offering excellent Mediterranean food in a sophisticated setting and beautiful views across the Bay of Angels to the distant Alps.

Plage Keller is one of the best beaches ‘along the strip’ of La Garoupe, with its unmistakeable sunflower yellow matelas and parasols, contrasting with the turquoise blue of a very clear sea. Plage Keller is also home to the superb Restaurant César, perched just one level above the sand. This is where chef Olivier Condat, weaves his culinary magic, using the very finest local hand picked ingredients.

Plage Keller is a popular beach club on Plage de Garoupe featuring a sandy beach, panoramic views of the coast, and delicious food at its Restaurant Le César. Situated on the peninsula of Cap d’Antibes, the glamourous beach club is about three miles from Old Town Antibes. In the summer months, make sure to reserve your sun lounger in advance as these typically sell out ahead of time.

For a lazy lunch, pieds dans l’eau, take the tender ashore to Plage Keller and try the Michelin-starred Le César. With sunflower yellow deckchairs set out on a wooden jetty stretching out over the water, and white cloth tables on the sand, Plage Keller is the most sophisticated of the beach clubs on this private stretch of sand. A former haunt for F.

Plage Keller has to be one of my favorite spots on the Cap d’Antibes (the headland that’s south of the town itself). It’s about a 20 minute drive or taxi from the town and for, it’s well worth the trip. It’s perhaps not the most gastronomic spots in this guide but the food is well done and the ambiance is fantastic.

Plage de la Garoupe is an idyllic sandy beach with stunning views of the sea and the mountains beyond. The public part of this popular beach is relatively small so make sure you get here early in the high season. The municipality rents sun loungers and parasols here during the high season at subsidised prices.

Two family run beach front restaurants on Plage de la Garpoupe. The Cesar serves French Mediterranean cuisine and all their seafood is sourced locally. The speciality is wild sea bass roasted in a salt crust.

Often described as one of the best beach clubs on the Cote d’Azur, Plage Keller is the place to see and be seen in Antibes. It has a private beach with rows of sunbeds to rent and two picturesque pontoons.

Hiking the entire length, from its start near Plage Keller to its end at Billionaires Bay, will take about 1.5-2 hours. Budget more time if you plan to stop and swim at any of the many beautiful beaches.
