You cannot surf in Biarritz without having a meal at Le Surfing, this iconic brasserie offering a gorgeous view over the Côte des Basques beach and the Villa Belza. The menu is very diverse and will please everyone. The best time to come is early in the evening, so you can watch the sunset that will take your breath away.

Le Surfing is probably the closest to the surf beach you can get in Biarritz whilst sitting down to a delicious meal. With huge windows that open to the ocean, order your breakfast, lunch or dinner whilst watching the water sparkle, the waves roll and the surfers glide…well at least some of them. Le Surfing is more of a stylish restaurant so no sandy feet or bare chests but in keeping with the Biarritz theme, this restaurant has a beautiful relaxed and vibrant atmosphere for all to enjoy.

For direct at-the-beach food options, there is Le Surfing, overlooking Côte des Basques. You can cozy up and watch the surfers rip from the long row of tables lined up out front, or enjoy the view from inside, since the whole wall facing the beach is windows. As you’d expect from the restaurant’s name, the aesthetic is white with pops of blue and yellow and there’s old school surfing memorabilia scattered around.

Everyone enjoys the view of the sea with a decoration, in an ever more surfing and oceanic spirit, which has something to charm. A "fusion" cuisine that displays its personality by offering you a walk and inspirations from elsewhere, made with local products; the menu changes regularly, depending on arrivals and the seasons. The dishes are balanced, perfectly combining sweet, salty, acidity and bitterness.

À l’entrée de Bidart, le restaurant Ahizpak, tenu par quatre sœurs, propose une cuisine entre bistrot et semi-gastro avec vue panoramique sur la mer. Pour les fêtards et les people, direction le lieu insolite du Blue Cargo à Bidart sur la plage d’Ilbaritz. Sur la même plage, la Plancha est le rendez-vous des locaux amateurs de poissons à la plancha.

Situated on the shores of La Côte des Basques beach, this is the ideal spot to grab coffee and breakfast before a morning of surfing or strolling along the beach. The interior is distinctly airy and open, with eye-catching surf memorabilia and nautical treasures lining the walls.

There are other spots to hang out nearer the main surfing beach of La Cote des Basques, regarded by many as the cradle of European surfing, but I have only ever found Le Surfing and the trendy outdoor Etxola Bibi (albeit with their excellent views of the panoramic coastline and sunsets) to be self-regarding and cliquish.

Le Surfing: This casual café bar is located right on La Côtes des Basques beach. Come here for lunch, or in between surf sets to grab a drink with the locals. The food is simple but delicious, with crowd pleaser dishes such as the fish and chips and a gooey cheeseburger.

Le Surfing: This is where the surfer dudes hang out when they’re not hanging ten. It features surf paraphernalia on the walls, no-nonsense food on the tables and lovely views of the ocean through the windows.

For bars, Le Barbu is a great bar with local surfers and good ambience. Also, Le Bar Du Marche is right around Halle Du Barritz, it is packed at night with good tapas and beautiful people.

Our last night we ate at Le Surfing where we were delighted by the tuna tartare and sushi and ate pasta and chicken skewers while mesmerized by the surfers until sunset at 9:30...

Le Surfing is located just by the ocean on the Côte des Basques beach. This restaurant is, as Frederic describes it, ‘the best place for a glass of wine before the sunset’.

Located next to Le Surfing, this well-styled restaurant is another favorite spot for sunset drinks and ocean view dinner. The go-to spot for the cool crowd.

If the tapas doesn’t quite do it, book a table at Le Surfing which overlooks the surf spot. The perfect end to a perfect day in Biarritz!
