The perfect weekend in Beaune for wine lovers
Start the evening with a bottle of wine or by-the-glass pours and apéro-essential small plates at Maison du Colombier. The bar’s quaint ambiance and bible-like wine list – Burgundy heavy, of course – is loaded with classics and up-and-comers alike, as well as a good amount of trophy bottles for those looking to splurge. Despite its epic wine selection, Maison du Colombier is better known for its drink than its food.

Owner Roland Chanliaud used to be the chef at the (then) Michelin starred Le Jardin de Remparts. Wanting to start a new project that was altogether more relaxed, he and his charming partner Françoise Roux created the Maison du Colombier. Described as a ‘Gastro-Bar & Gîtes Urbains’, it combines a small number of rather luxurious small apartments that can be rented with a wine bar/tapas style restaurant.
Where to Eat: Our Favourite Beaune Restaurants
These are the two most recent up-and-coming wine bars/tapas bars in town. A side note: when we say ‘tapas’ here in Burgundy, it not only means amazing charcuteries and cheeses, but also a selection of incredibly fresh dishes of the day cooked “à la minute” by the talented chefs (who each previously owned other restaurants in town but decided to “retire” by running these wine bars!).

L’établissement propose aujourd’hui une carte des vins de plus de 800 références !

Too few people make the one hour drive from the Cote d’Or to Chablis; the region is an overlooked culinary hot spot that offers exceptional value compared to the Cote d’Or. Olivier Bailly’s favourite restaurant in Chablis is Au Fil du Zinc for "the precision" of the Japanese Chef. According to Olivier, "he produces very good French cooking with a Japanese influence".
