Despite its epic wine selection, Maison du Colombier is better known for its drink than its food.

Owner Roland Chanliaud used to be the chef at the (then) Michelin starred Le Jardin de Remparts. Wanting to start a new project that was altogether more relaxed, he and his charming partner Françoise Roux created the Maison du Colombier. Described as a ‘Gastro-Bar & Gîtes Urbains’, it combines a small number of rather luxurious small apartments that can be rented with a wine bar/tapas style restaurant.

These are the two most recent up-and-coming wine bars/tapas bars in town. A side note: when we say ‘tapas’ here in Burgundy, it not only means amazing charcuteries and cheeses, but also a selection of incredibly fresh dishes of the day cooked “à la minute” by the talented chefs (who each previously owned other restaurants in town but decided to “retire” by running these wine bars!).

La Maison du Colombier is a popular gastro pub located in the heart of Beaune that offers a unique dining experience with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients. Three sets of unrelated friends recommended it, and we fully understand why.

A prime example of a Bartizan in Burgundy can be found close to the collegiate church of Beaune in the form of the Maison du Colombier. This 16th-century building once belonged to a wine merchant.

Another place I really like is Le Maison du Colombier, which is in a little square. Again, the wine list is out of this world. It’s kind of a charcuterie, so simple stuff done perfectly.

Walk down the steps of the basilica and continue down Pl. du Général Leclerc. Stop when you get to Av. de la République, which you will be turning left into.
