"I saw this place down a sidestreet and was intrigued. The menu sounded authentic and the inside looked just as authentic. So I made a note to come back.
I just had a fantastic meal. Local, authentic ingredients made with passion and care.
All the staff, from the girls serving to the chef coming out to ask how was the food, to the wine recommendations, were superb.
Left feeling very happy to have explored this gem on a sidestreet."

"We stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant in the charming alleys of Aix en Provence. We were blown away by the quality of the food served. We had the Artichokes with lemon and vinegar, and the Chicken stew and the Lamb Shank (cooked for hours 😋). It was by far the best chicken stew we’ve ever had. Every morsel of chicken thigh was lovingly seared and enrobed with the simplest yet most velvety of gravies that the chef clearly put his heart into creating. The lamb shank was fall off the bone delicious yet tasty and flavourful. The mains were artfully played with fresh and cooked vegetables on a bed of mashed potato. Dessert was well torched and caramelised creme brûlée which had a snap crack when tapped with a spoon. We were so happy to end off our meal with such a delicious Provençal meal for our last night in Aix en Provence. The restaurant far deserves a 5 and not the 4.4 listed."

The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were fantastic; they even helped us find local wines that matched our taste perfectly. The Best Restaurants In Aix-en-Provence, France
In a golden-stone street on the edge of Aix’s Old Town, Le Petit Verdot is a must for its hearty cuisine, rooted firmly in Provençal soil, with a menu that nods occasionally to Italy. Tuck into succulent Camargue bull, or a leg of lamb braised in thyme, accompanied by a bottle (or two) from its 100-plus wine list, which is drawn mostly from the South of France. Dine at their rustic tables made from wine boxes and sip along to a laid-back jazz soundtrack.

24 Hours in Aix-en-Provence
During our wander through the city, we kept an eye out for Daube listed on restaurant menus and found one not too far into our wandering at Le Petit Verdot a small, cozy restaurant in the center of Aix. The small interior of this wine bar with traditional Provençal cuisine is comfortable and casual and encourages you to linger over wine and delicious food. We started with the beef bone marrow (because we can never pass up that cholesterol and fat-laden treat), and moved into simply prepared fresh local mushrooms, and then the traditional daube.
Food in Provence: Reviews
Le Petit Verdot in Aix-en-Provence: This casual, homey wine bar and cafe serves hearty Provençal fare—all of it fresh and caringly presented. You can eat at one of the small interior tables or at tables along the street outside the restaurant. Arnaud started his meal with the frog legs because he felt strongly that I needed to try them, having married a French man as I did.
