Reviews Summary
Osteria il Cru is celebrated for its enchanting historic ambiance and the fusion of traditional and contemporary flavors, with many praising the attentive and friendly service. While most dishes are met with delight, a few diners noted occasional inconsistencies in temperature or seasoning. The wine selection and unique tasting menu are often highlighted as exceptional experiences.
"Amazing setting for dinner in the historic Cru building. Definitely book to ensure you get a table through the easy to use website. We were greeted by the welcoming and friendly staff. Our visit was on the 26th of December, which is a bank holiday. The reduced menu had ample choice. Our food was served at our own pace, which gave us time to enjoy the experience. The food was to a high standard and very tasty. Thank you to all the team for the efficient and friendly service they provide 🙏"

"Popped in for a plate of mushroom ravioli. The staff were very pleasant and the service was fast. The ravioli tasted very good but came cold (hence the rating of 3). Unfortunately I was leaving for the airport otherwise I would have returned the dish."

"I had seen the menu in my hotel room and wanted to try the carbonara pasta. That was not on the menu we received (see pics). They were able to make the carbonara anyway 🙂
Service was very friendly and welcoming
Atmosphere is lovely, especially the outside area with beautiful flowers (but not ideal for people watching)
I was a little underwhelmed by the pasta but my son liked it more than I did. I thought it could have used maybe more Parmesan and pepper?"

The Best Restaurants To Try In Tallinn
Inspired by the historic atmosphere of Tallinn Old Town, Cru is yet another treasure to be discovered in the Estonian capital, tucked away in a building with two main rooms that have been renovated according to the original plans of the 15th-century construction. On the menu, however, patrons will find a harmonious mixture of traditional and contemporary cuisine: Baltic herring, marinated according to the oldest recipe in Tallinn, served with smoked eel from the coastal city of Pärnu and pan-fried black bread.

Top 5 Restaurants in Tallinn’s Old Town
The Viru Gate was built in the 14C and comprises two striking, ivy-covered watchtowers which mark the entrance to the Old Town. Just past the gate, you’ll find The Cru Hotel, which may be small but has a big heart. The dining rooms clearly play an important part here, as they occupy space over three levels, and while they might be within the hotel’s cellars, they are brightly decorated, with plenty of personality.

His menu at Cru aims to find a balance between modern and traditional, Estonian cuisine and international. Classic Estonian flavours like dill, sour cream and salted fish are contrasted with bolder flavours like coriander. But all in all, you will find a wonderfully thought out out menu highlighting the best of local ingredients.
