Reviews Summary

Lille Bakery is lauded for its high-quality, artisanal baked goods, especially its bread and pastries, and the cozy, sunlit atmosphere. However, some visitors have noted that certain items, particularly sandwiches, can be dry and expensive, and the service can be slow during peak times. Despite some inconsistencies, the food quality and ambiance generally leave a positive impression.

"Really cozy cafe with a big open space, lots of natural lighting. There’s a decent amount of seating on the top floor that overlooks the kitchen which was super fun to watch. Really good pastries and lots of people were eating their daily lunch that looked really good too. Highly recommend!"

Queeny Qiu

"The most popular bakery, and it's no surprise why. The bakery is delicious, the shop is cute, and the atmosphere is great. It's a bit farther from the city center, but definitely worth the visit. The day I went, it was sunny, and there were a lot of people, so the line was quite long. I recommend going on a day when you're not in a rush, preferably on a weekday and not on the weekend.

Since it's a popular spot with a lot of people, please be mindful of taking photos and respect the privacy of others."

mutita suwannang

The sourdough and rye bread at Lille Bakery are worth the schlep to Refshaleøen (though do stay long enough to explore the newly buzzing ex-shipbuilding area, home to Noma 2.0, open-air bars by the water and large-scale art gallery Copenhagen Contemporary). The bakery itself is in an industrial space where you’ll find pastries, doughnuts, brioche, granola and eggs with a local and organic ethos. “Lille serves excellent oats, but all the food – including pies, salads and baked goods – are just delightful.

Cardamom, custard and kringles: great Danish pastries - in pictures | The Everyday Wonders Of Denmark

What the world thinks of as the classic Danish – an iced circle of light pastry filled with, say, custard or nuts – is known as a spandauer in Denmark. At Lille Bakery, in Copenhagen’s Refshaleøen neighbourhood, they take their spandauer up a notch, topping the delectable custard-filled pastries with an array of fresh fruit and compote. For a special treat, order the spandauer with preserved rhubarb, where the rich flavours of vanilla and almonds clash with the sharp smack of fruit.

Cycle across the river, past Noma’s greenhouses, to vibrant Refshaleøen where you’ll find this warehouse turned bakery.
