Just a short tram ride from the center of the city, U Kroka is an honest and unpretentious restaurant serving some of the most respected traditional Czech food in Prague. The dining space is modern and minimal with both brick and slate gray painted walls as well as brushed metal lighting fixtures. Standout dishes include roast duck with apples, home-made dumplings and red cabbage, rabbit saddle with bacon, creamy garlic spinach and roasted potato gnocchi and marinated pork ribs in a spicy marinade with garlic and chili dip.

This is a popular restaurant below the Vyšehrad fort and a convenient lunch or dinner option if you find yourself in the area (although we make special trips to eat there with friends). The menu is focused primarily on Czech cuisine. All meals are made without glutamates, dyes, and preservatives.

U Kroka ($$): Another amazing meal recommended by my wonderful Instagram community. This place is a real gem, away from the touristy areas, with a cozy and casual atmosphere. It wasn’t until this very moment that I realized this restaurant is very close to Vyšehrad!.

U Kroka and Radost are two amongst the various restaurants I visited when I was in Prague. While the others weren’t bad, these have lingered in my mind and it would be my personal opinion and recommendation to put them in the list of best restaurants in Prague.

Get it from U Kroka where locals squeeze in by the dozen for the quick service and tasty food and in the summertime you’ll be pleased to discover that the tables spill onto the outside pavement, where you can enjoy your kulajda in the summery air.

Located south of the main city center, U Kroka is a beloved local restaurant nestled off a quiet neighborhood street. Talked up as a place for delicious Czech food, I had to check it out.

U Kroka combines the old and new effortlessly with a modern dining area and a traditional menu. They’ve put a twist on garlic soup, using smokey pork broth to elevate the light flavors.

Again, I haven't tried their schnitzel, but they do traditional Czech food and it's all been great in my experience.
