This restaurant-bakery combo was the first of its kind in the city and it definitely raised the bar for the dining scene. The menu, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, is inspired by neo-Nordic cuisine with a Czech twist, and the farm-fresh ingredients are brought in daily. The lunch menu made up of dishes such as spelt, red pepper, and cottage cheese, while on dinner menu you’ll find potatoes in ash, smoked fish, dried egg yolk, and kefir, or dry-aged beef tenderloin with onions and marrow.

Karlín is fast becoming Prague’s most fashionable district, and places like Eska are at the forefront of that revolution. Few places meld modernity and authenticity together like this Bib Gourmand restaurant and bakery in the heart of Prague 8. Eska is famed throughout the city for its convivial service, and the whole place goes above and beyond to create a delightfully comfortable atmosphere.

Eska’s concept alone ticks many boxes when it comes to breakfast: it’s a restaurant, a bakery, and a specialty coffee shop, and it would probably rank high on a Prague best-of list in either of these categories (it’s one of the six Bib Gourdmand-awarded restaurants in town). It is also a place with a very young vibe, as white apron-clad, inked cooks and waiting staff serve meals to young families with small kids listening to Frank Ocean soundtrack in a brightly-lit repuprosed factory for water heaters in the uber-cool Karlin district (think Tartine Manufactory in San Francisco). This is also a place to go if healthy lifestyle is your thing, with offerings like cold-fermented oats porridge with almond milk and fruits on the menu.

Located inside a converted fabric factory (and part of the Forum events venue), Eska offers a modern take on traditional Czech breakfast and lunch dishes using locally sourced ingredients and innovative cooking techniques. Breakfast options include egg-fried bread with grilled vegetables (or ham), crepes with pear baked jam and curd cheese, and semolina porridge with brown butter and lavender. Lunch options include roasted rabbit and potatoes in ash, which is apparently the one dish you absolutely must order to the menu.

Housed in a converted Karlín factory, Eska feels part Nordic test-lab, part Czech grandma’s pantry: an open fire crackles upstairs while jars of fermenting veg line the shelves. Start with a filter coffee or flat white from their in-house roastery, then move to their cult-status Eggs Benedict on smoked-potato sourdough, Instagram’s current darling. On our Prague adventure, we stopped to try an amazing sausage and salad dish that I would recommend, but expect the menu to rotate routinely.

This modern open-space coffee place in a trendy Karlín is also owned by the Ambiente company (they also own the Savoy and other restaurants). This means that the food is great, and innovative and the traditional Czech cuisine is served with a modern twist. If you feel like trying something non-traditional, order the Eska breakfast with fermented wheat, mushrooms, vegetables and eggs served on sourdough bread, followed by a traditional cake (buchta) and fermented lemonade.

Eska is a pretty funky restaurant and bakery which blends retro charm with stylish modern character, both in terms of design & furnishings and the menu; it’s a unique place in Prague, you get the sense of an abundant artisanal spirit and dedication to crafting delicious traditional Cech dishes combined with a daring, modern sleekness. Not many Czech restaurants offer the chance to see behind the scenes, but the open-plan facility at Eska offers exactly that. Set in an old factory in Karlín, the minds behind Eska wanted guests to be able to see exactly where their meals were being prepared, and what kinds of ingredients were being used. The bottom floor is a fully-functioning bakery, where all baked goods are made on-site (their bread is some of the best in the entire city).

This is where we had brunch (my absolute favourite meal but I guess you already know that!) on our last day and boy, was it a great way to conclude our Prague foodie discoveries!. This spot was a more modern take on what the Prague foodie scene has to offer. Housed in a former industrial building, Eska is bright, modernly decorated and hosts a restaurant, bakery and a specialty coffee shop under one roof.

In a real Italian oven, they mainly bake two types of bread - bread 33 and 66 (the numbers indicate the ratio of rye to wheat flour), both wonderfully soft and crusty. Relaxed, creative, and excellent are a few of the words that describe Eska Prague, a top notch restaurant like nowhere else we’d been on the tour. The modern industrial decor, attentive service along with a bustling open kitchen all added to make this a great farm-to-table restaurant experience. We were given the choice of the OMG Gin and Tonic (with homemade OMG gin) or a 2016 Hibernal by Ota Sevcik.

Eska, located in the trendy Karlin district of Prague, is well worth stepping off the tourist path. Part of the Ambiente group, the Eska venue has a busy bakery and cafe downstairs, and a Michelin-star restaurant on the first floor. It is renowned for its beech wood-fired sourdough bread made with organic flour and innovative root-to-fruit approach to traditional Czech cuisine.

Although we went to Eska, in Prague's Karlin district, for the breakfast rather than the coffee, the coffee was also particularly good. They serve coffee from Czech roaster Nordbeans and the menu included Aeropress- and V60-brewed filter coffees as well as espresso-based drinks. I started with a really lovely, fruity Mahembe coffee from Rwanda, brewed through the V60.

Eska is a super cool, hip restaurant and bakery located in the very-well fitting neighbourhood of Karlín. It gets its inspiration from Nordic cuisine and if you’re looking for a delicious treat, then this is your place. Despite the fact that it has only been around for a few years, Eska has already managed to receive the Bib Gourmaud in the Michelin Guide 2019.

Maybe you’re travelling with someone who doesn’t need to eat gluten free and wants to try some traditional breads or pastries, and you want to give them a break from purely gluten free stuff. Eska is a bakery that had traditional breads for Ahmed to try (no gluten free here!). He got a bushta sweet yeast bun and a houska braided bun for his train sandwich.

Located in the Karlin neighborhood near the Florenc Bus Station, ESKA Restaurant and Bakery serves up one of the area’s best brunches. ESKA won a Bib Gourmand award and ranks highly on the lists of both specialty coffee shops and bakeries in Prague. The vibe here certainly skews young, with the now ever-present third-wave coffee trend on full display.

Eska Restaurant remains one of my favorite bakeries in Prague – but they serve up so much more than the best koláč and bread in town. Their beautiful building, located in Prague’s Karlin neighborhood, is home to one of the best restaurants in Prague: Štangl. They work with raw ingredients from Czech Republic for a beautiful deugstation menu.

One of Prague’s best-known bread destinations, Eska serves up Bread 33 and Bread 66, named after their rye content. Their potato bread is soft and tender, a fan favorite among locals. The bakery transforms seemingly ordinary ingredients beyond recognition and rediscovers old techniques – fermentation, drying, wood heating and fire roasting.

Eska has some similarities with La Degustation, mostly in the selection of local ingredients. However, this little gem relies less on richly ornamented plating and extra-fine service in favor of more casual and relaxed atmosphere. The place has its own charm, as i tis situated in a former factory for water heaters.

Homemade butter and bread, delicious pastries and a cup of coffee that’ll definitely wake you up. Eska is the perfect place to enjoy a brunch par excellence. We also went for a buchta (a yeast pastry filled with either quark, poppyseeds or plum jam) and ordered another Flatwhite from the espresso bar for dessert.

Eska is a joy to sit in in both summer and winter, thanks to its outside seating area and cozy, warm interior. As is typical for the hip Karlin district, Eska’s interior has an industrial-chic design, thanks to its location in a former workshop. The breakfast menu is served from 8 to 11:30 AM.

Highly recommendable brunch place in the Eastern part of Prague. Yes you can walk from downtown or take a quick Uber hop but it is very much worth it. Downstairs there is a shop and their own bakery with excellent delights and upstairs you find the hip, industrial style restaurant area.

This restaurant/bakery/cafe is completely at home in its urban chic, renovated factory. The name of the game is gorgeous baked bread all day long. When you have fresh local ingredients, foraged goodies, and intriguing fermentation, you have an intriguing menu of inspired Czech dishes.

Some of the best coffee and brunch in Prague can be found at Eska. Their roasted oat granola, sweet bread, and seasonal omelets all received seals of approval from friends when I recently visited. Eska’s food is as delicious as it is beautiful, with plating that feels very upscale.

Eska - a restaurant/bakery/shop owned by Ambiente, on a grand scale. This place in the Karlin district is worth a visit, if only to see the open kitchen and dozens of chefs at work. Head upstairs for a sit down meal, or simply order a coffee and pastry downstairs (baked in house).

Because if there is any restaurant that has made the Karlín district famous, it is Eska. Eska is not only a restaurant, but also a bar with great drinks, a delicatessen and a bakery. This is loud but convivial at the same time, in an industrial venue with high ceilings.

Eska is a restaurant with a bakery where they bring the traditional and the modern together on your plate. Does potatoes in ash with smoked fish and fermented asparagus soft drink sound good to you?. Than I can recommend to book a table at this stunning place!.

Eska is on the Michelin Guide and is off the beaten path in a business warehouse space. The spot had fashion-forward diners and a great open-air Scandinavian design. The restaurant has a take out bakery section and take-home foods.

This place was one of our favourite places to eat in Prague. So happens they do beautiful specialty coffee too. Great spot if you want to combine your coffee with the best breakfast in Prague, or lunch if you’re popping by later.

We ended the day with dinner at Eska (reservation required). This trendy, Michelin rated restaurant was fabulous!. Their menu changes daily depending on what the farmers bring and they have an option of a “Chef’s Selection” menu.

Eska ($$$): My friend Diala recommended this place to me, saying it was one of her favorite restaurants in the world!. So I went in with high expectations and Eska did not disappoint!. In fact, I have to agree with her 100%.

In Karlín you can find one of the most popular breakfast spots in Prague, Eska. The second branch of the bakery and bistro can be found at Letná, but there aren't many seats here. 📍Pernerova 49, 186 00 Praha 8-Karlín

The bread offer is limited here, and even further limited to rye. Two loaves are available, one with 33% rye flour, the other with 66% rye flour (wheat flour constitutes the rest). The bakery uses organic flours.

Martin Štangl is the head chef here, and perhaps the most famous dish is potatoes in ash with smoked fish. I enjoy going to Eska mainly for breakfast and occasionally for some baked goods or a cream puff.

Come to Eska for: Something strange and different, served in a modern setting. Not for picky eaters. Many members of the Ambiente Restaurant Group are on this list.

After a sensational brunch in Prague’s beloved industrial-style eatery, Eska, I wasn’t at all surprised to learn that it has made its way onto the Michelin guide.

The four that carry over are Divinis, Eska, Na Kopci and Sansho. Dropping off the list are Maso A Kobliha and Bistrøt 104, both of which are closed.
