Reviews Summary

Café Imperial is celebrated for its breathtaking Art Deco interior and generally excellent food, offering a grand dining experience. While many praise the professional service and delicious Czech and international dishes, a few diners have reported feeling rushed or experiencing rude service. The prices are considered reasonable for the quality and ambiance provided, making it a highly recommended stop in Prague.

"Beautiful place located in the center of Prague. The interior resembles something in the art deco. We had made a reservation in advance, and upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. The service was pleasant, and the food was delicious. As for the prices, it wasn't exactly cheap — a bit above the average — but still reasonable. Been to this restaurant twice already and will definitely go again!"

Юлия Щербина

"Excellent! The food, the service, the atmosphere, the price are all very great. Especially this restaurant is Michelin recommend, the price are still very affordable. Compared to those Czeck restaurants, it is much delicious. I have ordered braised rabbit, it is incredibly tender and soft. The truffle sauce are very good."

Raphael Tso

"A truly iconic cafe in Prague — Café Imperial is worth visiting not only for its food but also for its magnificent Art Deco and mosaic interiors. The atmosphere is grand yet welcoming, with stunning ceilings and detailed wall designs that make you feel like dining inside a piece of history.

The menu offers a good balance of Czech classics and international dishes, beautifully presented and full of flavor. Service was professional and attentive, adding to the overall experience. Whether for breakfast, lunch, or simply coffee and dessert, this is one of the most memorable places to enjoy a meal in Prague.

Highly recommended for anyone who loves historic cafés with timeless charm."

Prague's Best Restaurants and Top Chefs

If I needed any more evidence that a serious transformation of the restaurant scene was under way, I found it at Pohlreich’s Café Imperial. Fifteen years ago, you never would have heard the words celebrity and chef uttered in succession during a discussion of Czech cuisine. But as I conversed with Pohlreich over lunch in the main dining room, it became clear to me that I was sitting in front of the country’s most famous chef.

10 Cheap Eats in Prague

And the kulajda is probably the Czech-est of all Czech soups: a creamy potato soup with mushrooms, dill, vinegar and a poached egg, this is so good my mouth is literally watering as I write this. And the version at Café Imperial, run by one of the most famous Czech TV chefs, Chef Pohlreich (he ran the Czech version of Kitchen Nightmares), is a great, approachable one. Now, at CZK 115, this is nowhere near being the cheapest soup in town.
