You’d also be remiss to not stop at Restaurant Gouverneur de Rouville for the most authentic keshi yena (cheese stuffed with spiced meat, raisins or plums, and root vegetables) on the island.

Have lunch on the verandah of a restored 19th-century Dutch mansion overlooking Santa Anna Bay for spectacular views of the harbor, or in their charming colonial courtyard in the back. The menu offers consistently good local and international dishes. Be sure to stick around after dinner for live music at the bar, which stays open late, especially if it’s a Thursday night when fireworks explode over the water at the end of Punda Vibes night.

People definitely like their beef in Curaçao, and for an upmarket steak dinner, you can't go wrong at Restaurant & Café Gouverneur de Rouville. The food there is superb, and vibe romantic and fancy. Of course, as goes for visiting all unknown cities at night, be careful and take certain precautions. Avoid walking (alone) through certain districts, be mindful of where you park your car and be aware of possible pickpocketers.

Restaurant Gouverneur de Rouville sits right along the channel with a gorgeous view of the Queen Emma Bridge from the patio dining tables. The space also had an adorable second-floor garden to dine in out back, but we were fixated on the water-view option. Watching the ships pass by as we drank ice-cold mojitos made for the perfect welcome by the Gouverneur.

De Gouverneur has been a household name in Curaçao for years, especially the spots on the balcony. If you get a table there (ask for it when you make a reservation), you have a fantastic view over the colorful Handelskade, and you get a cool breeze for free. The number of balcony seats is limited, but you can’t go wrong in the beautiful courtyard either.

Restaurant & Café Gouverneur de Rouville (de Gouverneur) was hands down our favorite restaurant in Curacao. We had lunch and dinner at this establishment, which is located in the Otrabanda (the other side) section of Willemstad. Located in the heart of Willemstad in an authentic Curaçao building with lots of character and a stunning view over Sint Anna Bay and the famous “Handelskade”, Gouverneur’s Restaurant & Café is one of the most picturesque places you will find in the island.

The Gourverneur de Rouville serves authentic Dutch and Caribbean food in a stately colonial manor on the opposite side of all those Handelskade colourful buildings. Book a table on the balcony for an unbeatable view or in their charming courtyard for a more quiet meal. Ginger serves great fusion Caribbean, Indian and Asian food.

When you want to go for a restaurant that is a bit fancier, but still reasonably priced, Restaurant Gouverneur is the place to be!. In my opinion, Gouverneur is definitely the best restaurant in Willemstad!. The restaurant specialised in both local and international cuisines, while always adding its own Caribbean twist.

Near the Harborfront street, lined with brightly painted 18th century buildings is a good watering hole called the De Gouverneur. This 200 year old building dates back to when the British captured Curaçao in the early 1800s. Try Keshi yena, (cheese stuffed with spiced meat, olives, capers, pickled onions, and prunes)

Also worth noting is a great brunch find — Gouveneur de Rouville on De Rouvilleweg in Willemstad. The restaurant has incredible ambiance and views — you can sit inside or outside and they offer fresh fish specialties, as well as uniquely prepared soups, like banana soup (below) and below it, carpaccio.

Just outside the gates of Kura Hulanda is De Gouverneur, a Dutch-Caribbean restaurant built inside the former governor’s house. Large wooden windows overlooking the river create the perfect evening ambiance, but a light lunch in the indoor cobblestone garden is ideal for the romantic traveler.

This historic building in Punda’s main square dates back to 1817, when it was used as the residence of Governor de Rouville. Today it houses one of Curaçao’s most elegant restaurants, on the terrace overlooking the harbor. You can also take a table on the second floor in the romantic garden.

De Gouverneur Het is erg fijn als een restaurant van te voren al aangeeft dat het glutenvrij eten serveert, want dan weet je waar je aan toe bent. Bij de gouverneur ben je dan ook op het juiste adres. Op de kaart staat netjes met symbolen aangegeven wat glutenvrij is en wat niet.

For a unique fusion of Dutch and Caribbean cuisine, we recommend dinner at Gouverneur de Rouville. Located just half a mile from the port, this stunning restaurant is popular with locals and visitors alike. It also offers an outdoor dining area with views of St. Anna Bay.

In Willemstad, op kruipafstand van de pontjesbrug, vind je dit restaurant. Je hebt geen uitzicht op de brug zelf, maar dat is niet erg: ze hebben op de eerste verdieping (waar je het restaurant vindt) een grote binnentuin. Superknus en leuk, met veel planten en kleuren.

Unfortunately it isn’t on the menu everywhere – it should be – but the iconic Restaurant Gouverneur De Rouville serves it up. It is melty and delicious, plus the view from that establishment does not suck, looking across the water at Punda. Reservations are necessary.

Once outside, a left turn will take you pass the wonderful building of the Gouverneur De Rouville Restaurant to Brion Square and the floating Queen Emma Bridge pedestrian cross to Punda - a historical neighborhood of Willemstad where major landmarks are found.

Beautiful spot in Willemstad, which you walk to from the pontoon bridge. From the front terrace you look at the bridge and at the Handelskade across the street, with its world-famous colored houses. At the back is an attractive courtyard garden with a terrace.

The restaurant is located on the other side of de Pontjesbrug, which gives it a stunning view over the trade quay of Willemstad. With good food and most of the time live music, it is a really nice place to go and dress up.

Allereerst is de lokatie perfect, direct aan de Pontjesbrug in Otrabanda, met uitzicht over Punda en de Sint Annabaai. En wij hadden geluk en konden ook nog eens een tafeltje bemachtigen op het balkon.
