What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Yarini Habana is celebrated for its spectacular rooftop ambiance and creative cocktails, offering breathtaking views of Havana. While many praise the atmosphere and drinks, food reviews are mixed, with some dishes deemed disappointing or inconsistent, though appetizers like ceviche often receive good marks. Service can be overly attentive or confusing, and the restaurant is considered moderately to expensively priced for the area.
"One of the most impressive place We've been ever. Amazingly beautiful. With really nice cocktails and one of the best sea food pasta and risotto ever... so rich in lobster, octopus, shrimps, and so delicious! The two not so great things... the stuff is over observing us, they would ask you 5 times in 3 minuets, "do you finish", "can we take this", "do you want some more drinks"...it really start annoying us. Second issue: We like it a lot and we were trying to come there again, but on the spot they said it was closed and it will open after 2 hours despite it was in their working hours. After 30-40 min walk to there, we were disappointed to hear that, and for that not clear working hours policy. We did not try third time there."

"Rooftop dining, lots of seating options, can accommodate large parties. The views from the top tier are magnificent and at the golden hour the lighting for pics is perfect. Food was meh (some dishes too salty, others bland) but the drinks were really, really good. Definitely more expensive than other restaurants in Havana. Would come back for the views and cocktails but eat dinner elsewhere."

"We came here for dinner and drinks whilst in Havana. The location is a rooftop overlooking the center and is really unique. The view of the city really shows you the different sides of Havana with the poor-kept buildings, and in the background the capitolio with other historic buildings.
The staff warmly greeted us and their service was really well with paying attention to details.
For food, we ordered five different starters which all tasted delicious and were presented well. Our main courses were dissapointing, especially since our expectations were high after the quality of the starters. The mushroom risotto was recommended by the staff but tasted dry and was a bit undercooked. The filet mignon came lukewarm/cool so we had to send it back to the kitchen. The presentation of the dishes was really plain, we were not impressed compared to the starters. Prices do not reflect this quality of main courses.
The cocktails were tasty and unique.
Overall we had a great experience with the service and the unique location and good atmosphere. The main courses were dissapointing and lacked finesse."

Despite Political Hurdles, Havana's Culinary Scene Is Flourishing
This momentum is visible in newly-popular node of San Isidro, where hipster foot traffic and a new spate of art galleries have been pushed along by the Galleria Taller Gorría, created by the beloved Cuban actor Jorge Perugorría, and a charming rooftop paladar Yarini. On the other side of Old Havana, half a dozen small eateries have cropped up on the pedestrianized street of Calle Chacón, such as the motorcycle–themed Chacón 162, where a Harley once owned by Che Guevara's son hangs over the bar, and the brand-new Antojos which serves traditional Cuban food—a rarity on an island where chefs still often defer to Italian or French tastes. A few steps away, Color Cafe has a tapas bar in the street front space and a chic clothing boutique in the back, with regular fashion shows to entertain the mojito-sipping clientele.
The Coolest Places to explore in Havana
Named for an infamous neighborhood chulo (pimp) gunned down in the streets of Habana Vieja in 1910, this rooftop bar/restaurant is the go-to watering hole in the up-and-coming San Isidro art district. In the mysterious tradition of modern Havana bars, there’s no clear entrance sign, just a green neon hat logo on Calle San Isidro opposite a disconcerting mural of a cartoonish balaclava-clad minion by Havana’s premier graffiti artist: 2+2=5. Upstairs, a handsome alfresco sitting area is book ended by feature staircases and stocked with a healthy profusion of green ferns and yellow fairy lights.
Restaurants in Havana We Think Are Better Than La Guarida
Yarini is owned by one of Cuba’s most beloved and successful living film actors, the talented Jorge Perugorría. (Side note: Netflix’ Four Seasons in Havana, which he stars in, is a terrific watch.) The food and the ambiance at Yarini are outstanding and the backstory is fascinating. Located on a multilevel rooftop with amazing views of San Isidro, a historically marginalized Afro-Cuban neighborhood in Old Havana, Yarini gets its namesake from a Robin Hood-esque historical figure who was gunned down in the streets not far from the restaurant.
