Located at the edge of Vedado, it might be a bit of a trek to get here, but it's definitely worth it for one of Havana's trendiest eateries. Step inside to the clanging of an old ship's bell (indicating a new customer has arrived) and climb the winding staircase into the mill itself.

Part of, but separate from, the Fábrica de Arte Cubano – Havana’s always-packed, multi-venue nightclub – El Cocinero offers a more laid-back but still swinging vibe. The entire complex occupies a renovated former cooking oil factory. A winding staircase inside towering industrial chimney augers up to the boss rooftop bar – where smooth tunes, great tapas and a menu of more than 30 spirit-forward cocktails await.

VedadoSituated in the same abandoned factory as the outrageously fun club/bar/concert venue/art gallery La Fabrica in the trendy Vedado neighborhood, El Cocinero would fit like an Etsy-sequined glove in any hip 'hood in the States (here’s looking at you, Williamsburg). Look for the 50ft brick smokestack atop the rooftop dining room. Follow it to rum and meat.

La fabrica del arte Cubano is one of my favorite places in Havana to go out, meet local people, get inspired by art and have a nice meal and drink. Finally, we’ll end with El Cocinero, a restaurant in Havana that’s ideal for eating before or after visiting the Cuban Art Factory (it’s right next door). It also has one of the most beautiful terraces in the city, so you’ll enjoy it twice as much. The cuisine is contemporary and incorporates many local ingredients.

Sit back, flick through the menu and whatever you do, make sure somebody at your table orders the seafood risotto. Rich, creamy and distinctly maritime, take it from us, this is the best risotto outside of Venice. And when you speak to Cubans in the know, they’ll tell you to return again and again to El Cocinero.

An extensive, well-cared-for wine selection at El Cocinero, a paladar in the upscale Vedado neighborhood, was a pleasant surprise. Bonus: It’s down the block from late-night hotspot Fábrica del Arte Cubano, which is also well worth a visit. We can see wine culture making strides in Havana in the next few years.

I enjoyed the pork and fish dishes and even nibbled on some rabbit. It was rather tasty!. The ambiance of this restaurant is quite romantic and the outside terrace was beautiful, being lit by tiny light bulbs with numerous plants adorning it.

This industrial chic open-air rooftop is a real gem, serving delicious food such as ropa vieja or pulpo or langosta, and … the best piña colada in town. Find this trendy place under the imposing brick chimney.

I tried tres leches everywhere in Cuba and ate my favorite one in El Cocinero. Their dark-tempered tres leches was very good and looked like cheesecake. But that wasn’t the dessert I ate two portions.

Another great option is El Cocinero, which is housed in a converted factory and serves up delicious food and cocktails. More amazing locations such as: Yarni Habana, and El Bleco.

Experience:We almost skipped this restaurant, as we were very tired of our day trip to Vinales. I am so glad we didn’t!!. When we arrived there was a very long queue.
