What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Konoba Otprilike Ovako is celebrated for its authentic home-cooked Croatian food, especially its fresh seafood like the 'Gregada' fish stew and dishes prepared 'the wet way.' Diners rave about the warm, family-run atmosphere and the exceptional hospitality from the staff. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a few mention that some dishes can be bland or less flavorful than others, and one reviewer found the experience to be expensive and disappointing.
"Great restaurant, traditional Croatian food, so good we went back. The service from Luca was first class and made us very welcome.
The seafood was always fresh and the Gregada (fish stew) was delicious. We tried both pasta dishes, octopus salad, fish in the bag and many more. Over both visits we tried most of the seafood dishes.
Highly recommended."

"Incredible dinner spot for authentic Croatian food! The night we went, it was mostly locals eating inside, which tells you how good the food is! We tried the Tuna Tartar and "Fish the Wet Way". Both dishes were outstanding, extremely fresh and flavourful! Fish the Wet Way was tender Hak fish cooked in a rich soupy broth, served on a bed of Croatian pasta, with olives and capers. Excellent service as well!
I'd also recommend treating yourself to a bottle of Croatian's famous Grk wine! It was a showstopper!"

"We tried to walk-in to another place just around the corner, but they were all booked up. This was our second choice and it was a great second choice. I got the seafood in a paper bag and my partner got the grilled octopus. Both were good as was the wine. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a night out in Split."

Local Guide to the Best Restaurants in Split, Croatia
This classic restaurant on a side street in the Varoš neighborhood is run by the Grabovac family and is named in honor of a cult music band which the owner, Davor, just so happens to have played in. They source their fish directly from local fishermen and only serve fish caught that very day. They take farm to table to a whole new level here - on their own family farm they grow vegetables, produce their own olive oil and wine, and cure their own meat (exclusively from prized Slavonian pigs).

You will find it at the address Sinovciceva ulica 5, and it will delight you with an authentic local experience.
