I found this one for my birthday dinner after seeing multiple reviews on TikTok and it was perrrfect🤩 The sunset views were unreal, straight out of a movie scene! Reviews Summary

Diners rave about Restaurant Kopun's dedication to authentic Croatian cuisine, particularly the signature capon and traditional dishes like black risotto. The charming patio and attentive service contribute to a memorable dining experience, though some reviews note inconsistencies in specific dishes and occasional service issues.

"We were looking for a dinner spot for our first night in the Old Town, and chanced upon this restaurant right up a tall flight of stairs. The server was very hospitable and introduced us the 3 course set meal (1 soup, 1 main and 1 dessert) for €38. We got a meat set meal and a fish set meal, and it was the best decision! The soup dishes warmed us up very quickly in the cold, and the beef + octopus was very soft and delicious. Highly recommend!"

Jermaine Lim

"We had a lovely dinner at Restaurant Kopun in Dubrovnik. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.

We ordered these two delicious dishes:
Capon - pasticada

Both plates were generous, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The food arrived quickly, and the prices were very affordable considering the quality and quantity.

Highly recommended if you’re looking for authentic Croatian cuisine in a charming setting. We’ll definitely be back!"

Joelle Jbeily

"We ordered capon, black squid risotto, pasticada. All were served and plated very nicely and it was such an enjoyable dining experience. After having experienced poor customer service at another restaurant, I was worried I would anticipate something similar here but that was not the case at all! Waiting staff here were friendly and made us feel very comfortable and provided a very enjoyable dinner for us. The surroundings of this restaurant are very serene as well. Would recommend to visit here !"

The 13 restaurants in Dubrovnik

On a peaceful square in front of the Jesuit Church of St Ignatius, Kopun serves traditional Croatian dishes (which combine influences from Venetian, Austrian, Hungarian and Turkish cuisine), prepared with fresh local ingredients and a modern approach. Try the rich and fruity signature dish, Kopun (castrated cockerel in honey and wild orange), the pasticada (beef stewed in wine with prunes, served with gnocchi), or the royal shellfish brodet (seafood stewed with tomato, wine and fresh herbs). Needless to say, they serve quality Dalmatian wines, both by the glass and by the bottle.

The name of this eatery refers to capon, the rooster cooked in a bitter orange sauce that was a delicacy during the time of the Republic; it's just one of the classic Dubrovnik recipes that this charming local favorite has chosen to reinvent. The mission here is to take the most traditional Croatian dishes and put a modern spin on them, like their mouthwatering take on the typical brodet fish stew. With a lovely terrace at the top of the Jesuit Steps and a timeless menu, Kopun is quickly establishing itself as one of the best restaurants in town.

Have a casual dinner at Kopun, a local restaurant that specialises in traditional Dubrovnik recipes. We recommend their seafood dishes (fresh fish or the brodet - a traditional spicy seafood stew), sporki makaruli (aka dirty macaroni meat pasta - kids usually love it!), homemade gnocchi with truffle infused capon ragu, or pasticada (slow-cooked beef). Kopun is a one minute walk from The Byron and a great spot for families - the kids or husband can run around in front of the Jesuit church while you enjoy a cold beverage.

Here at restaurant Kopun we take great pride at our efforts to bring back some of the old Croatian recipes handed down through centuries. Rich history of our country is a perfect place to search for variety in cuisine as Croatia is incredibly diverse country despite relatively small territory it encompasses. This diversity developed throughout the turbulent history of this country fueled by a myriad of different cultural influences that we as a people came in touch with.

These Were My 7 Favourite Places To Eat in Dubrovnik, Croatia

Restaurant Kopun is a fantastic spot on the square opposite the Church of St. Ignatius. The food is exceptional, full of local dishes cooked to perfection, with fantastic staff, a lovely atmosphere and great entertainment as it is one of the spots where Old Town Dubrovnik’s army of wild cats congregate at night, who are great fun to watch. My best tip for Kopun, however, is to come hungry as the portions of modern Croatian cuisine are absolutely huge!
