Occupying the ornate Arsenal building on Luža Square, Gradska Kavana remains Dubrovnik's favorite meeting place for morning coffee and cake, breakfast, or an evening aperitif. The grand café has an ample summer terrace and is a perfect spot for people-watching and admiring the sites that surround it, including Rector's Palace, Sponza Palace, and the Cathedral. City Hall is located just upstairs, so you'll often see news cameras and journalists outside waiting for politicians to emerge.

Gradska Kavana Arsenal is situated in the heart of Dubrovnik’s Old City and overlooks the old port, Arsenal, which dates back to the 13th century. “This is the place where residents drink their coffee – and not coffee to-go,” says Ivo. While there are four breakfast options to choose from, Ivo’s favourite is the Stradun which comes with a hot drink of your choice, orange juice, croissant, honey, marmalade, butter and a ham and cheese omelette.

Located on the main square, not far from the Sponza Palace and the Rector’s Palace, and across the street from the Church of St. Vlaho, the café has a spacious terrace where the locals take their morning coffee, while the tourists stop throughout the day for a refreshing drink or a light meal. If there is no room, be sure to enter the restaurant and walk through the entire modernly decorated space until you reach the second, eastern terrace that overlooks the old harbour. In addition to the renovated space – the café exists since 1895 - the kitchen has also been modernized, offering light, beautifully served Mediterranean dishes.

This was our favourite place for breakfast in Dubrovnik, which we affectionately dubbed ‘The Blue and White Breakfast’ after its so coloured table linens and interiors, as well as in jest by my friend who actually supports Tottenham Hotspurs. Unsurprisingly, the restaurant was not named after the English Premier League team but in memory of the historic shipyard nearby, where galijuni and karake ships were made from the 13th century onwards. This grand building sits on the waters edge of Old Port, with 3 large open arches that provide a stunning visual of the port during your sitting from the patio.

Gradska Kavana Arsenal was our favorite restaurant in Dubrovnik. Located in a prime people-watching spot, it’s a popular restaurant that serves traditional Croatian cuisine – fresh seafood dishes, meat dishes, black risotto, Dalmatian smoked ham, octopus salad, Mali Ston oysters, and more. From our experience and their online reviews, it’s clear that Gradska Kavana Arsenal serves delicious food all around but if you like seafood, then you may want to try their grilled Adriatic squid.

Set in a repurposed Renaissance shipyard, overlooking the serene sea, boats in the Dubrovnik’s Old city harbor and the Town walls, Gradska Kavana Arsenal must be the best dinner theater in the world. The highlights of its rich menu are definitely fish specialties with a wide choice of fine wines, respecting the old regional proverb – that fish is no good if it hasn’t been „bathed“three times. First time in the sea, then in olive oil, and finally – in wine.

The perfect place to sit and soak up the Croatian sun, while enjoying a delicious and passionately-prepared meal with a presentation so aesthetically pleasing you almost won’t want to eat it. The restaurant’s wine list is also extensive, offering both local and international tipples that are the perfect accompaniment to your food. Sip, dine and sightsee as you enjoy picturesque views of Dubrovnik’s coast, rustic and historic architecture and landscape.

Dubrovnik can be an expensive place to eat at, but if you get to Gradska Kavana Arsenal before 11:30 AM each day, you can eat an incredible breakfast for only about $15. The breakfast includes a bread/pastry basket with butter, jam and honey, a coffee beverage of your choice, orange juice and an option of an english breakfast, eggs benedict, or avocado toast. It’s an amazing deal and the view from the restaurant is even better!

Bar Nonenina, the former Hemingway Bar, still known as such by most locals (Pred Dvoram 4), has comfy wicker chairs and more than 180 adult beverages from which to choose -- try the mojito or the Croatian beer Karlovacko.

Gradska Kavana (the city coffee house) does a decent breakfast and is a great place to people watch. But let’s indulge ourselves and check out Gianni (a 30 seconds walk from The Byron and probably the closest to a real patisserie inside the Old Town). Enjoy a proper coffee, gelato, & cake.

As one of the top Mediterranean destinations, Dubrovnik also has wonderful seaside dining options as well. So if you’d prefer to enjoy a water view while you dine, Gradska Kavana Arsenal Restaurant is just the place. This was one of my absolute favorite restaurant views in the city.

Gradska Kavana Arsenal is a gorgeous restaurant right in the mix of everything in the main plaza. I loved sitting at a table and people watching while enjoying a delicious meal. While Gradska did not have a gluten free menu, most of the menu items were gluten free.

From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with impeccable hospitality and a warm smile. The atmosphere in Gradska kavana Arsenal Restaurant is simply superb. The decor is elegant and sophisticated, yet cozy and inviting at the same time.

For the morning of Day 2, we enjoyed a fantastic breakfast at the popular restaurant Gradska kavana Arsenal. This is where we first discovered Croatian bacon, which is quite literally the most delicious bacon in the world!

Location is sometimes crucial for a business and Gradska Kavana Arsenal has just that!. It is located near the city’s main square as well as Sponza Palace and the Rector’s Palace. These are historically important sites.

The Arsenal was situated at the location of today’s Gradska Kavana. It was composed of 4 vaulted sections for the 4 galleys that protected the town. The state defence galleys were built, guarded and repaired here.

This wonderful upscale terrace restaurant and coffee house is an Austro-Hungarian styled one time cult meeting place, located near the Ploce gate. You’ll find excellent foods, cakes, coffee and wine list.
