Barba (‘uncle’, ‘old man’ or ‘captain’) is a street-food fish restaurant based on a healthy concept. Here healthy, Mediterranean food is quickly prepared and thrown together in imaginative combinations: octopus sandwiches with mascarpone, marinated anchovies with cuttlefish salad and nectarines, shrimps with rocket and parmesan… You’ll also find pasta with tuna and artichokes, and mussels and fava...

Reviews Summary

Barba is celebrated for its innovative seafood street food and friendly, family-run service. Diners rave about the unique octopus burger and generous seafood platters. While the cozy space can mean a wait, the quality, flavors, and welcoming atmosphere make it a highly recommended spot for a quick, delicious bite in Dubrovnik.

"Brilliant experience here. We ordered the sharing platter which came with the octopus burger (cuttlefish ink bun!), fired fish, calamari, fried prawns, octopus salad (this was soso refreshing), potato salad, anchovies and pate on bread and a choice between fresh oysters or fried oysters (we opted for both). This was such a unique platter and we would love to come here again and order the same thing!

It was quite a small restaurant and was fairly popular so you may need to wait a bit but they did work quick and the staff are so welcoming. You can also do takeout as well! - We saw some people order takeout and have this by the ocean, which would be lovely!

What I loved is that they did not skimp out on the portions, it was so packed and we loved every bite! They also have wooden forks available to decorate the restaurant, which is so fun while you wait and it makes time go by so quick!"

Aleina Allen

"Love this concept of food . I choose octopus burger and the burger bread was made with cuttlefish ink. The taste is amazing. Ante and miho(the owner) and Nina were really nice and friendly. You might have to wait if you want a table inside but there are some stairs next to the place where you can sit and wait for your turn to sit at the tables or you can have takeaway on the stairs. You can also enjoy a drink while waiting for your table. So far I recommend for a quick lunch or dinner."

Ana Maria I

"I ordered takeout twice and dined in once. Overall, the food is tasty and worth coming back for. I personally wasn’t impressed by the octopus burger, but their anchovies are absolutely the best. You can substitute the side for french fries. I also tried the calamari, which were good. Dine-in wait time was around 15–20 minutes, and the food came out fairly quickly. Takeout was ready in about 10 minutes. I’d come again, even after 3 times. I saw people eat their take out on the staircase next to the restaurant."

This welcoming little hole-in-the-wall eatery specialises in "seafood street food" and is one of the few places in town to offer a reasonably-priced quick bite. It’s an ideal spot for lunch or supper on the run, and comprises modern pinewood tables and stools seating about 10 guests, plus cushions on the stone steps out front. The daily menu is chalked up on a blackboard, with perennial favourites being the octopus burger and the mixed seafood platter, plus local wine served in plastic cups.
