Reviews Summary

Mila Pastelería is celebrated for its delicious desserts, particularly the Milo brownie, and its charming atmosphere that transports diners to a Parisian cafe. The service is consistently praised as friendly and attentive, with specific staff members frequently mentioned for their exceptional hospitality. While some find it a bit pricey, the quality of food and overall experience make it a worthwhile indulgence for many.

"This place does not only serve breakfast. They served lunch and dinner as well. The ambiance and food were incredible. Think this was one of the best breakfasts I've had since going to Cartagena for many years. Must try their hot chocolate with cheese ( sounds gross but tasted great), Hash brown (a MUST...ordered 2 cause tasted so good) and their scrambled eggs. Their Al Pastor taco was good as well. All their cakes and pastries were absolutely delicious. Their chocolate croissant was to die for. Too bad I discovered this place on my last day in Cartagena. I would definitely eat here every day next time I return."

"Delicious desserts, specially the Milo brownie. Order it hot with a side of ice cream, it’s amazing. The place is cute and the service is super friendly. We had a really nice time. The only but is that it’s a little on the expensive side. Thanks for everything"

"Great coffee and delicious pastries. You can see and taste their freshness and quality. The place is also cute and perfect for a decadent birthday breakfast...
Tatiana was our server and a shout-out to her. One of the best service experiences I've had in Cartagena.
If you are into coffee and pastries, this is the place."

Restaurants in Cartagena

This upscale bakery and coffee shop offers touches of quaint, country-style decor and friendly service. Particularly popular for a midmorning coffee break or afternoon tea, the temple of pastry, cake, and silken mousse delivers a welcome respite, and you'll likely end up spending more time than you have planned. The pour-over filter coffee is good, and the lemon-coconut drink—a Cartagena classic—may be at it's best.

Cartagena, Colombia | Travel Guide & Advice

The undisputed queen of the afternoon sugar rush, eponymous owner Mila Vargas earned a black belt in the dark chocolate arts in the cafés of Buenos Aires and Paris. She shipped a winning mix of chic interior design and sassy snacks home to cater to visitors accustomed to a more cosmopolitan version of café culture. Her fame for delivering a different level of candy-covered means you will have to fight the farandula - Colombia's soap star set - for a mid-afternoon macchiato or a slice of Mila's signature Porteño chocolate cake in high season.Centro, Calle de la Iglesia 35-76, Cartagena (00 57 5 664 4607; mila.com.co)

CARTAGENA CONNECTIONS

BEST BREAKFASTS CARTAGENA

When Mimosas in Cartagena were barely a mythical whisper from those fortunate-enough to have ventured overseas, Pasteleria Mila was pioneering their cause. The home of the original Cartagena brunch, Mila still remains one of the city’s best; thanks to an enormous selection of scrumptious sweet and savoury offerings, gorgeous French-farmhouse ambience and those aforementioned Mimosas. If you can make it out without ordering “breakfast dessert” from the ridiculously tempting window displays, you’re a better man than I am.

Whenever the tropical heat gets to be toomuch, stop by a coconut cart and drink the water straight from theshell. Travel Guide for Four Days in Cartagena, Colombia

Mila Pastelería is another place we might have skipped because it’s a cuisine we can easily find at home, but they had absolutely wonderful air conditioning and plenty of places to sit and cool down during the hottest part of the day. Instead of eating a French-style pastry as we recovered from the sun, we went for the order of churros and they were spectacular.

Eat and Drink in Cartagena

Pastelería Mila is a trendy brunch spot in the walled city full of young, well-dressed locals. They have a full brunch menu in Spanish only, so we took a bit of a gamble but the food was really good. We both had an arepa and egg situation, and the pastries and dessert in the counter case also looked delicious.
