Reviews Summary
Época Café Bar is celebrated for its exceptional specialty coffee, roasted in-house from local beans, and its chic, welcoming ambiance that blends classic and modern decor. Diners rave about the all-day brunch and savory dishes, particularly the sandwiches. While service is generally praised, some visitors note that extra charges may apply for certain items.
"This espresso bar was so cute. Loved the coffee hot and iced. Ended up bringing some beans back home and tasted just as good. My favorite was the croissant, literally melted in your mouth. Tons of shops and other businesses in the area also. Can get a little crowed but the service is still good. I would recommend!"

"As a digital nomad with years of international travelling experience, this may just be the best breakfast place on my list! It's slightly above the legendary Bali breakfasts (if you know what I mean, then you know) for me. And finally that great taste of Colombian coffee.... Right in the middle of the old town. Definitely coming back here again, highly recommended!"

We went there very often for lunch.
Our kids and us liked it very much.

My daughter really recommends the chocolate cake 🍰
And my son recommends the chicken curry 🍛

Epoca Cafe, located on Calle de Arzobispado, in the walled center of Cartagena, offers a unique coffee drinking experience. Epoca collaborates with eight local coffee farms to supply their cafe with the delicious beans Cartageneros and tourists alike have grown to love. They roast their coffee beans in house, which not only fills the cafe with the delicious aroma of fresh coffee, but also gives visitors the option to take home their own batch of freshly roasted coffee beans.

Today, a quality cup of homegrown coffee is still a novelty to most and if you step inside one of those third wave coffee shops in Cartagena, like Epoca or Libertario, you’ll still be met with more foreigners than locals. For the masses, that thermos of 500 peso tinto sold by the vendor on the street corner is still the cup of choice, though it is safe to say that the tide is certainly turning and places like Cafe del Mural are partially to thank for that.

I loved visiting Cafe del Mural in Getsemani for a looser and creative interpretation of coffee, compared to our visit to Epoca, an espresso bar where we enjoyed a slower, more ritualistic experience. Either way, you’ll get your fill of caffeine throughout the city. You honestly cannot go wrong anywhere you turn, but if you go to Cafe Del Mural, order a beer with a coffee shot.

Not far from Plaza de Bolivar, Época Café quenches your thirst of espresso in the historical center. Época’s own coffee is roasted on the spot, and they sell a variety of beans from bourbon to honey caturra, and gesha. Epoca is all about specialty coffee: I’d say it competes with Café San Alberto about the title of the best specialty coffee shop inside the walled city!
