What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
El Altillo is praised for its charming garden atmosphere and delicious coffee and desserts, making it a beloved spot for relaxation. While many enjoy the warm hospitality and unique setting, some reviews mention slow service and less-than-ideal interactions with staff. The food is generally well-received, though consistency in delivery times can be an issue during busy periods.
"Love the environment and the food!!! The service also was really nice!!"

"The service here is horrible. The man who works here doesn't smile and treats people like trash. We went in to have coffee, and he said we were only allowed to sit outside. This was because we had a dog. However, the dog was off the leash and outside, not inside with us. The tables were full outside, so we asked if we could move a table outside. He said no and again offered zero explanation. He did not even attempt to explain if these were the rules. Just simply asked us to leave with no explanation. Will never go here again despite living next door to this park. Try hiring people who have the ability to smile. Even if these were the rules, he could have explained them nicely, even simply mentioning we could have a coffee to go would have satisfied us. He seemed like he hated his job and having to talk to people. Odd choice of a hire for a people facing job. It's not hard to see why ratings here are so bad. Lost sales due to employees that hate their job."

Restaurants in Bogot
Charming and plant filled, this quaint little coffee shop makes a great escape from the rush of the Sunday-market streets. Visit on a quiet day to relax, sip a coffee, and have a go at some of the dangerously tasty cakes. The Spanish hot chocolate is thick enough to stand a spoon up in, and is beastly good.

9 of the Best Cafes in Bogotá to Check Out
El Altillo Cafe feels like you might be in someone’s backyard garden with antique gardening equipment and random items all over. I love how it kind of feels like a hole-in-the-wall sort of place while also feeling special, unique, and a little romantic. I wouldn’t say the coffee is world-class by any means but it is a perfect spot for a rest in the midst of shopping at the Usaquen Sunday Market (Mercado De Las Pulgas).
