Reviews Summary

Diners consistently praise the vibrant atmosphere and unique experience at Andrés Carne de Res, often describing it as an unforgettable party. While many rave about the authentic Colombian flavors and delicious food, particularly steaks and empanadas, some reviews mention slow service and longer wait times for food. Despite these occasional drawbacks, the overall consensus is that it offers a one-of-a-kind dining adventure.

"The food was so good and came out really fast. The service was all also very helpful and spoke English. We also got left at 12 and they were still open"

Viviana

"For just 20,000 COP (≈ $5 USD), we had a tasty breakfast with eggs your way, fruit, bread, and Colombian coffee. The food was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly affordable for an airport. A great budget-friendly spot to grab a real Colombian bite before your flight."

Stefanie Niño

"Exceptional Service at Andrés Plaza de Reyes – El Dorado Airport, Bogotá

I had an outstanding experience at Andrés Plaza de Reyes inside El Dorado Airport. With a flight scheduled at 2:00 p.m., we walked into the restaurant at 1:00 p.m. feeling unsure if we’d have enough time. But the staff welcomed us with a relaxed smile and said, “Don’t worry, come.” And they meant it.

Within 10 minutes, our food was already served—before we even placed the full order! We added tostones with sauce on the spot, and they brought it within a minute. Truly impressive speed and attentiveness.

I ordered the tenderloin grill, and it was simply amazing. Flavorful, juicy, perfectly cooked. The service was top-tier, and the meal was absolutely worth it.

As my son put it: “They deserve 100 stars!” – and I couldn’t agree more.

Highly recommended if you’re traveling through Bogotá or visiting any Andrés Carne de Res location in Colombia. Great food, lightning-fast service, and friendly vibes all around.

Thumbs up from a happy Google reviewer! 👍"

Restaurants in Bogot

You'll find the city's most iconic dinner experience about 40 minutes outside of Bogotá. This multisensory, multilevel restaurant is part Burning Man, part roadside barbecue joint---think vibrant colors, music, people, energy, and great food. The menu, which reads more like a book, focuses on beef and all things grilled, with plenty of local dishes from arepas to ceviches.

The Top Foods to Eat in Bogota and Where to Find Them

You’d never expect your wildest night in Bogota to take place in a restaurant, but that’s what makes Andrés Carne de Res one-of-a-kind. An institution in the city, it has been expanded to multiple locations (including one in Medellin) but there is no substitute for the chaotic magic of its flagship, located across multiple floors of an enormous building in Zona T. There is perhaps no other restaurant that also enforces a cover charge, even for those with a dinner reservation. The 10,000 pesos charge (less than $3 USD) is well worth it, as you can spend upwards of seven hours or more there — starting with a hearty steak dinner and ending with shots of aguardiente on the ground level dance floor.

A local’s guide to Bogota, Colombia

Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez once said that in Colombia, “any gathering of more than six people, regardless of class or the hour, is doomed to turn into a dance.” That certainly holds true at uniquely Colombian Andrés Carne de Res. It’s famous for its lomo al trapo — a steak filet baked in a cloth crusted in salt, then sliced open — but each evening, the vast restaurant transforms into something resembling a disco. Brass bands go from table to table, and the staff fling yellow paper butterflies in the air, a reference to Marquez’s iconic novel “One Hundred Years of Solitude.

If you only eat at one Bogota restaurant (unlikely given the options available) then make it Andrés Carne de Res in Chia, as much for the experience as for the food. Andrés takes the Colombian spirit and distils into just one evening, a restaurant that’s secretly a party ready to dance until the sun rises in a maze of art and antiques that will make your head spin. The brainchild of Andrés Jaramillo, Colombia’s most famous restaurant offers delicious dishes and an endless cocktail list, but your meal is just as likely to be accompanied by fire-eating nymphs and grape-crushing serfs.

Things To Do in Bogota

Andrés Carne De Res ★★★, at Calle 3 no. 11A-56 (no Transmilenio access), in Chia (www.andrescarnederes.com; tel. 1/863-7880) is considered the king of Bogotá nightlife by many. The kitschy steakhouse has expanded to cover an area of nearly 3 square miles and attracts thousands of people at a time. The owner opened another Andrés in La Zona T that is divided into three floors (Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell), but a trip to the original is still definitely worth a visit—it’s one of the most iconic nightlife experiences in Colombia.

Where to Eat the Best Food in Bogota, Colombia

Half restaurant, half circus, Andrés Carne de Res—a 40-minute drive from the city center—is a massive labyrinth of dining rooms and dance floors that sprawls along the side of the road and is probably visible from the moon. Roving bands of performers stop by tables where guests are feasting on serious platters of grilled meats, and it’s a rare night that doesn’t see people dancing on the tables. Ask your hotel to arrange a van to take you to and from so you can indulge in a bucket-size cocktail.
