Reviews Summary

Yang's Fried Dumpling is celebrated for its signature sheng jian bao, praised for their crispy bottoms, juicy fillings, and affordable prices. Many visitors highlight the authenticity of the experience, including live wanton making and easy ordering via mobile apps. While the food generally receives high marks, some reviewers suggest that certain other menu items might not be as exceptional as the dumplings themselves. Expect a bustling atmosphere, especially during peak hours, and be prepared to share tables.

"Stopped by for breakfast as I found it on Google map and not far from the subway.

I ordered 4 pieces of mixed pork with crab soup and prawn fried dumpling and a small chicken soup with wanton. The portion was huge and those dumplings were exceptional. Crispy outside, tasty soup and meaty inside. I couldn't ask for more. Perfect meal with a very affordable price.

I'm a foreigner but very easy to order by using either Alioay or wechat to scan QR code.

There was a live wanton making just next to my table. What a meal."

"Delicious dumplings! Good sized portions and reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again.

Went on a busy Sunday morning and the staff helped me to get a seat quickly sharing a table with a family of three. Constant stream of locals shows how popular it is"

Vincent Chan

"When I arrived at around 1pm the restaurant was jam packed as the pics show. So I chose take out.

The menu for the dumplings are easy as they have pics on the board and menu. No English text though. I ordered the prawn and veg/meat combo, as you see in the vid freshly being made in the compact kitchen. Both were delicious. Thin skins, great flavor with a lot of filling, crisp at the bottom, silky soft above and perfectly seasoned. Crazy taste sensation especially with the added sesame.

It all combines to give you an amazing dish that will become addictive.

Both portions in my pic for ¥43 is enough to fill me easily, excellent value too. Don’t waste your money at Michelin star restaurants. Try this."

The Best Restaurants in Shanghai

Yang’s fills its sheng jian bao with the same juicy pork filling as the ubiquitous steamed xiao long bao, but the restaurant uses thicker dough so the dumplings can stand up to super-high temperatures. When they’re finished frying, the buns crisp up on the bottom, turning a beautiful shade of golden brown. Enjoy them with chopped cream onions and sesame seeds, but bite carefully: It’s too easy to get zapped in the eye with hot broth.

If you’re near shopping district Xintiandi, stop by the dumpling stand at 173 Songshan Lu, near Taicang Lu, or take it inside at chic Shanghai Tang Café, where the dumplings are served as part of the weekend all-you-can-eat dim sum brunch.
