What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Yat Lok is celebrated for its signature Michelin-starred roast goose, praised for its crispy skin and tender meat. While some find the dining space small and cramped, the exceptional quality of the food justifies the visit and the occasional long wait. However, a few reviewers mention mixed experiences with service and a feeling that the hype doesn't fully match the reality, with some finding other dishes less remarkable than the star attraction.
"As a solo patron, I was quickly directed to the next available seat, though do note you'll likely be sharing a table with strangers here. From ordering to the food being served, everything was impressively quick. The roasted goose was absolutely delicious – the meat was incredibly tender and flavorful. The ice lemon tea, however, was nothing special and quite sweet. Despite that, I would definitely visit again for that amazing roasted goose!"

"Famous for its Michelin-recommended roast goose, but the portion of D1 Goose Rice is pretty small, and the meat isn’t as juicy or flavorful as expected. Hong Kong-style milk tea comes smooth but nothing special—plus, it’s served hot with very long spoons for some reason. Arrived late morning on a Friday to no lines and friendly staff. Worth a visit if you want to try it for the hype, but easy to skip otherwise."

"Lives Up to the Hype
This place is small, cramped, and draws long queues—no surprise given its fame. But the wait was absolutely worth it. Out of the three or four roast goose spots we tried during our short trip, this one topped them all.
The roast goose was outstanding: thin, aromatic skin, succulent meat, and an excellent chilli that packed a punch. Portions were generous, and while the price was on the higher side, it felt justified.
We noticed other diners ordering various BBQ items, but they didn’t look particularly appetizing to us. To be fair, we’re picky eaters with high standards—especially when it comes to Michelin spots. If you're more adventurous or less fussy, you might enjoy the char siew, but we could tell at a glance it wouldn’t suit our taste buds.
All in all, they truly shine in what they specialize in—roast goose perfection."

When you visit Yat Lok, which consists of a single, small cramped room, you can expect to be jostled, elbowed, scowled at, and maybe even yelled at by one of the many middle-aged, no-nonsense, apron-wearing waitresses.
