Reviews Summary

Rimrock Café is consistently praised for its high-quality, flavorful seafood and meat dishes, with standout items like the lobster bisque, seafood trio, and venison steak. The restaurant also offers an intimate and cozy atmosphere, complemented by excellent and professional service. While most experiences are exceptional, a few diners have noted minor inconveniences like stairs, but the overall consensus is overwhelmingly positive, making it a timeless Whistler classic.

"Excellent food and service. We were pleasantly surprised to learn of the spring menu special upon arrival at the restaurant. We availed of it of course. At 545 pm the restaurant already had quite a few diners. Every dish was carefully curated and was flavourful. The fish was excellent and the scallops delightful.

The only downside is that we had to climb a set of stairs."

C Pedrosa

"Reserved the restaurant weeks ago because of the high rating and it didn’t disappoint.

Location is less than 10mins drive from the whistler village with tons of parking at the front. Restaurant has a countryside warm & intimate feel, perfect spot for date night.

I wasn’t feeling very well so we ended only sharing the entrees, appetizer & main course. No issue whatever from the staff and they even split the bowl for us. Service is excellent and dishes come really quickly. Presentation of each dish is on par with high end restaurants and well flavoured."

JJ

"PRO'S: Rimrock Cafe dinner was an excellent experience. The amazing mushroom salad, house made Lobster bisque and lamb chops were memorable along with the sticky toffee dessert. Excellent service from William including Canadian wine recommendations. Excellent wine list.
CON'S: None
SUMMARY: Rimrock Cafe's dining experience was possibly the best of our trip. Enjoy!"

Where to Eat in Whistler: 5 Great Restaurants

Rimrock Cafe stood by itself as Whistler’s destination dining room for years as Whistler Creekside Village matured around it. Chef Rolf Gunther’s menu doesn’t dazzle you with fads, but focuses instead on classics such as terrine of duck confit, foie gras, rack of lamb, and the Rimrock mixed grill, featuring filet mignon, lamb chop, and venison. Like the menu, Rimrock’s cocktails recall former days when every element of a dining experience was done exactly right (try the Canadian Whisky Sour).

About 3 km (2 miles) south of the village, this restaurant is a perennial favorite as much for its cozy, unpretentious dining room as for its great seafood. Although seafood takes precedence on the menu—try the raw oysters with champagne—Alberta beef and local game will satisfy carnivores. If you want a booth or a coveted table near the fireplace, dine on the early side or make a reservation.
