It might be the handpainted Venetian chandeliers, but Quattro elevates the concept of a ski resort restaurant. This is a level of cuisine and ambience you’re more likely to find in New York or San Francisco. On chef Jeremy Trottier’s menu, the prix fixe fare changes seasonally, with certain favorites, like rigatoni pecorari and risotto, always available.

For those in search of fine Italian fare, a charming Venetian ambiance and superb service, Quattro will not disappoint. The cozy dining room exudes a continental style with ornamental ironwork, picturesque tiles, and hand-painted chandeliers. For a splurge try L’Abbuffata, a five-course Roman feast that comes on family-size platters meant for sharing.

However, Trattoria di Umberto’s is no longer open, instead, the tour typically goes to Quattro, another one of Whistler’s fine-dining, Italian restaurants. The tour might also start at the Bearfoot Bistro instead of Caramba. Note that all the food and wine mentioned is subject to change.

This is a difficult one for me to write about as my food was not great at Quattro. The three of us on the tour felt the same way. I think it was because it sat under the heat lamp too long, which is due to the nature of the tour.

I was very impressed when I went to Quattro that they were able to mix and match items even though we were getting the cheapo locals special.
