Reviews Summary

Bearfoot Bistro offers an upscale dining experience with many unique elements, from the sub-zero vodka room to champagne sabering. While many guests rave about the exceptional food, particularly the lamb, and the attentive service, some find the prices to be high and have experienced minor issues with dish preparation or timing of wine service. The overall consensus is that it's a memorable destination for special occasions.

"An all around wonderful dining experience. We were made to feel genuinely esteemed as guests by the personable hospitality of the hostess (who graciously checked our coats), our server (who is also a pilot), and even the manager—who shared that he had worked here for 20 years, and personally created our nitrogen ice cream table-side. We were lucky to get immediately seated without a reservation, but I suppose we were early birds for dinner. Then thrilled to be sat at a table with view of the kitchen!
The potato soup was a delicious starter, even for my daughter who ordered truffle fries and the pasta alfredo from the children’s menu. My husband and I enjoyed the elk with truffles and the oh so tender beef cheek. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted like it was made with care by a team of specialty chefs…which we could see that it was!"

Nicole Harper

"We came here to celebrate my partner’s 31 birthday and the experience was phenomenal from the beginning to the end. From the moment we sat down, we were offered sparkling or still water while having access to see the ins and outs of the kitchen as part of the experience (you have to specially request it).

Our server and sommelier took care of us and gave us such great recommendations, everything tied together in a way that the flavors all complimented each other so well, not too much or too little.

Special shoutout to: The Lobster roll and the Oysters. We got the prix set menu but I believe that the lobster roll is on the a la carte as well. Please, please, please get it. I would have 10 more of it if I could 🫣

They gave us two complimentary glasses of bubbly and a plate of chocolates to close out the night, and we are so grateful to have been treated like royalties for this special occasion. My partner wouldn’t stop raving about how this is his favorite dining experience ever and we cannot wait to come back 💛🤗"

Louis Lin

"It was our last evening in Canada. We were looking for a special meal. The food overall was good but was let down with hard, overcooked mussels and virtually tasteless ravioli and peas. The service was appalling. We ordered wine but we had eaten the starter before it arrived. We were told that they couldn't find the wine. The evening was saved by Michael. He was very understanding and good to chat to. 5 stars to Michael..The nitro ice was super creamy"

As one of Whistler's top destination restaurants, this elegant bistro never fails to impress. The modern Canadian-inspired cuisine means that the menu choices, which change daily depending on the availability of local products, may include anything from a rack of wild caribou with sweet corn to pepper-crusted elk carpaccio to steamed Dungeness crab with garlic herbed butter. If everything looks too delicious to decide, let chef Melissa Craig customize a five-course tasting menu or you can simply go for the three-course menu.

The Best Things to Do in Whistler, British Columbia

It’s an upscale combination of modern and classic flavors from Chef Melissa Craig, featuring fine meats and delicate seafood. It has an absolutely massive wine room, where you can sabre your own champagne, a full-on ice room with hundreds of bottles of vodka embedded in the frozen walls, and wonderful desserts, including creamy liquid nitrogen ice cream made right at your table. There’s also the aforementioned Grill Room at the Fairmont Chateau, with chops, steak, and seafood that are out of this world.

The restaurant offers unique, beyond-the-table dining experiences, from sabering a bottle in an underground wine cellar that houses over 15,000 bottles, to sipping on a flight of sub-zero in the ice encased, Ketel One-branded ice room, which claims to be the world’s coldest tasting room.

Guide to Whistler Cocktails

For funky, head to the main village for the Bearfoot Bistro, Araxi, Alta Bistro and gin-soaked newcomer, Bar Oso. Sure, it’s easy to overlook the Bearfoot’s cocktails for its exuberant sub-zero Ketel One Vodka Room, but look again: thoughtful touches such as local Murray River salt, and house-made vinegars make this a solid pick. Crisp and deceptively boozy, try the Guy On A Buffalo with Zubrowka vodka, or the Flying Solo with Deep Cove’s savoury gin for a tart, herbacious sour.
