Reviews Summary

Superbaba is widely praised for its incredibly flavorful and fresh Middle Eastern cuisine, particularly its crispy falafel and tender chicken shawarma. Many appreciate the fast, casual service and the trendy, inviting ambiance. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, one diner reported a bizarre experience with staff.

"Brought an out of town visitor to Superbaba for a quick and healthy bite. We both got the chicken shawarma bowls with a side of fries. I was very impressed by the tenderness of the chicken, the freshness of the salad, and the wonderful flavors in the bowl. We also enjoyed the large side of the side of fries, although it seemed that we got the end of the batch of fries. The value was great, the place was clean, and the food was delicious. I'll definitely be back at Superbaba again soon."

Hannah Feng

"As someone who works in Victoria, Superbaba is one of my go-to places when going for lunch. The staff are all very friendly here, and the food is always fantastic! It does get pretty busy in here at times, so it’s never a bad idea to order ahead. Even if you don’t order ahead, it’s still worth the wait. Would highly recommend Superbaba to anyone who hasn’t tried it before!"

Matthew Armstrong

"Chicken bowl with half rice half lettuce was delish! There was a lot of chicken in it and it tasted quality, nicely cooked. Definitely glad I’ve tried it and will order again!"

Four Great Falafels in Victoria

Since opening in 2017, Superbaba has become a downtown staple for eat-in and take-out Middle Eastern cuisine. The aim of co-owner Abdallah El Chami, who grew up in Vancouver, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon, was to make his food as accessible as possible, and his success speaks for itself. The herb-filled falafel are fried fresh to order and are available as a wrap, in a gluten-free bowl or salad, or as a side order with a cup of delicious tahini sauce.

My Favourite Victoria Cheap Eats -

Superbaba is a stylish, casual eatery that serves the most amazing Middle Eastern wraps and — the star of the show — the soft, supple pita bread that embraces all the tender chicken thigh and sumac mayo I could dream of. Did I mention the sumac mayo??. The fries come with a side of the mayo for dipping, and you should definitely order extra, because you’ll need it.

Superbaba actually has four different bowls all under $15 dollars but I’m picking specifically the steak bowl. You get half a plate of Persian rice, you get half salad, and then it comes with grilled steak, sumac onions, hummus and pickled cucumbers…it’s a whole lot of flavor packed into one bowl.
