Reviews Summary

Diners rave about the fresh, perfectly cooked fish and chips and creative tacos, calling the food exceptionally delicious and worth any wait. The waterfront location and charming outdoor ambiance add to the positive experience, though some note that it's a casual, stand-up dining setup without restrooms.

"Absolutely worth the wait! Best seafood in Victoria.

We had heard great things about Red Fish Blue Fish, and when we arrived, the long line said it all — but let me tell you, it was totally worth the 20–30 minute wait.

We ordered the BC Halibut, Tempura Cod Taco, and a Salad — and every single item blew us away.

🔹 The BC Halibut was unbelievably delicious — honestly, the best fish I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, super flavorful, and paired with fantastic fries.
🔹 The Tempura Cod Taco (more like a warm, soft wrap) was packed with flavor and had an amazing texture — crispy yet tender.
🔹 The Salad was a surprising highlight — so fresh, bright, and very tasty, which is rare for a side salad at a seafood shack!

We truly loved every bite and really enjoyed our lunch by the harbor. The setting, the food, the vibe — all top-notch.

We’re actually planning to come back tomorrow — that’s how good it was. We can’t imagine any other restaurant topping this seafood experience. The halibut is an absolute must.

Highly, highly recommended."

Amir Kazemi

"1st visit: Very good food, especially the fries. Large portions. Very limited outside seating, always a line to order. 2nd visit: not as good. Stood in line for more than 40 minutes. At one point, they stopped taking orders due to a need to catch up. The food was good, as usual. The salmon sandwich was quite good, and not as wet as the first time. I didn't care for the seafood chowder, since it contained tomatoes; however, my wife liked it. As with the other visit, the battered halibut and fries were very good."

Michael Pletan

"I went to Open Run, waited for the cooking time, and I could eat right away.

Fish and chips fried clothes were not thick but thin, so they were crispier and more delicious. You have to go and eat to find out why this place is a good restaurant."

To Victoria, BC: Red Fish Blue Fish, The Fairmont Empress and the bees knees - Rosie Birkett

After an insanely beautiful ferry crossing and a short drive, we got to Victoria, BC’s capital, hungry, so we were pretty pleased to find an outdoor waterfront eatery called Red Fish Blue Fish – a West Coast take on a fish and chip shop. We knew it was going to be good because there was a huge queue (always easier to take when it’s sunny) and there were people sat all over the wooden wharf eating fish and chips and fish tacos that looked delightful. While we were waiting we read a board next to the kitchen which explained that all the fish and seafood is part of the Ocean Wise Vancouver Aquarium program.
