What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners consistently praise The Sandbar for its exceptional service and stunning waterfront views, creating a truly enjoyable atmosphere. While the seafood is generally fresh and well-prepared, some reviews suggest that certain dishes may lack a certain spark or be slightly overcooked, especially given the price point. Despite minor critiques on food execution, the overall experience, enhanced by live music and attentive staff, makes it a recommended destination.
"The Sandbar does have a way of leaving one rather well-looked after. This was my second visit and once again the service was attentive to the point of being the true highlight. The food itself is sound, fresh and competently prepared, though it lacks that elusive spark that makes one sit up and say good heavens, that was brilliant. Still, when a restaurant treats you properly and ensures you’re comfortable from start to finish, one forgives the absence of fireworks on the plate. In short, steady cooking paired with exceptional service makes for a respectable return."
Le Duc des Critiques Malicieuses
"We are tourists from Calgary, we came to Vancouver for the delicious seafood, but came to the conclusion that a place 1000km away from the ocean has better seafood. Crab cakes were flavourless and overcooked for a whopping $25 you get a taste. Not to mention the lobster tails also another $25 were overcooked and chewy. I expected a lot more for the expensive price tag. Wasn’t impressed at all. The clam linguine was good though. Our waitress was nice and we were seated right beside the water, beautiful area. It’s too bad the food didn’t match the scenery"

"Happy we dropped by for a snack here because we quite liked the food here! It was quite spacious and had nice live music. The clam chowder was pretty good but could've had more seafood in it, the mussels were flavourful, and the bread was warm and chewy. It was also interesting to try the buck a shuck oysters. Service was mostly good, though sometimes hard to get a hold of like when we were missing a spoon or wanted to order more. Would return for a full meal if I visit again"
