What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
JOEY Shipyards garners praise for its breathtaking waterfront views and sophisticated yet fun atmosphere, making it a top choice for a dining experience. Diners frequently highlight the excellent service, with many servers being commended by name for their attentiveness. While the food is generally well-received, with specific mentions of dishes like truffle fries and sushi cones, some reviews note occasional issues with server attentiveness during busy periods.
"We had dinner here on March 31. There were a lot of customers for Monday night. They offer a glass of champagne for free while you wait. I can't drink, but I thought that was nice. I like the interior, and everything was clean throughout the restaurant. I ordered seared salmon sushi (CA$20.5) which was really good. I mean you can't go wrong with umami sauce. My partner had a piece. He liked it so much he ordered another one after finishing his food. Our server was really friendly. It was a little hard to get her attention though. Probably because this restaurant is big. Overall we had a great experience here."

"From when you entered and throughout our visit the service was excellent. You get a complimentary glass of bubbly and we asked for a table with a view over the waterfront. which we got. Restaurant filled up quickly for lunch. Service never failed. Paige, our server, took care taking pictures of my friend and I, who have not seen each other for 33 years. It was difficult adjusting the lighting on my camera and she used her own and sent us the pics. The food was excellent. We shared the chicken katsu salad and the wild roasted cod. These were not ordinary dishes at all. She asked if we wanted each course separated to share. It was well done, beautifully decorated for two portions of each. Great choice of wine for me too, where I got to taste before ordering. Would come back for sure, maybe when I come by Vancouver again to catch up with my school friend from years ago."

"My in-laws live nearby and we have passed Joey multiple times in the last years. An extended family member recommended this place after she had been to it herself. And boy, it did not disappoint. Aside from the great location along the harbour of North Van and the view of downtown Vancouver, the atmosphere is just great. Lots of people around and you can feel all the energy and great vibes. The food itself was delicious and well presented (see pictures). There is a good range of options on the menu. Service (shoutout to David) was excellent and accommodating. We were also served a non-alcoholic drink while waiting to be seated. In short: we had a great time there before heading back to Europe. We will definitely come back again next time we are visiting."
