It’s also a couple of steps away from the Plaza of Nations where there is a station for the Aquabus and the False Creek Ferries, so you can easily hop in a little boat and make your way to the Science World museum or Granville Island Public Market. The proximity to BC Place and Rogers Arena makes it the perfect hotel to book if you’re going to an event – I went to a concert at Rogers Arena when I stayed there and the walk back was three minutes. Last but not least, it’s only a 10-minute walk to the SkyTrain station Yaletown-Roundhouse from where you can directly go to the airport.

to get a real feel for Vancouver...take the aquabus from the bottom of Thurlow street across to Granville Island (thurlow is downtown) It's a tiny ferry that will take you to granville island public market for about $2.50($4 return) and after wandering around there..then come back on the aquabus and walk the sea wall around stanley park...It's beautiful and relaxing and you'll get the best feel of Vancouver that you can get...It's about 10 miles around..but if you get tired you can always cut through one of the forested trails in the middle of the park...come!

After chatting with several local producers, they told me that ever since the series aired on Netflix, there have been line ups everyday at Lee’s Donuts. That being said, be prepared to wait anywhere from fifteen to forty-five minutes to try these delicious donuts.

Food may be a big part of the Richmond Night Market, but I enjoyed so many other things while I was there. There are very talented performers that vary from week to week but always put on a good show. From dancers to magicians and martial arts shows to live music, it’s worth sticking around after you’ve eaten all the food you can try.

Probably the most famous farmers market in Vancouver is the Granville Island Public Market. For more than twenty years there has been everything from homemade cheese to natural gourmet sauces. The construction will see three 20 ft by 8 ft shipping containers arranged in what is now part of the northwest parking lot next to the Public Market. One of these containers will have its sides cut off to become a 20 seat “parklet” overlooking False Creek, which is to say it will boast one of the greatest views in Vancouver.

JJ Bean – a Vancouver institution that started in Granville island market and worked its way across the lower mainland. Despite their omnipresence they have solid coffee with a great selection of roasts.

For special occasions I would recommend either Granville Island food market or Les Amis du Fromage for top notch cheese but as you by now must have realised, the prices will make your eyes water.
