"We came to The Modest Butcher with high hopes, especially after hearing about the quality of the food and in that regard, it delivered. Every dish we had was well-prepared and delicious.
Unfortunately, the service didn’t live up to the food or the prices. I had noted on our reservation that we were celebrating my partner’s birthday, but there was no acknowledgment at all, no greeting, no gesture, nothing to make the evening feel special. It felt like just another night to the staff.
Our server was noticeably inattentive, walking past our table multiple times without checking in. We were never asked if we needed more water or wine, and when we were finished, we had to ask another staff member for the bill then wait again. The staff, mostly young, spent more time chatting with each other or standing around than attending to guests.
When you think of fine dining, you expect a certain level of professionalism not just in service, but in presentation. The staff didn’t seem dressed for a fine dining setting, and the energy in the room felt casual and indifferent. For the price point, the overall experience didn’t reflect the value.
We didn’t even bother with dessert because it was clear we weren’t being prioritized. And of course, the expectation of a tip at the end adds to the frustration good service should earn that, not assume it.
It's a real shame, because the food is worth coming back for. But until the service matches the standard the kitchen is setting, it's hard to justify the experience."

"Unfortunate experience …. Beautiful place and the staff was very nice BUT ….
1. Level/quality of food service was not at the level of the prices. Multiple wrong/missing items and ultimately required customer attention to then not have to pay for items that were not delivered.
2. Food quality was a mixed bag. Appetizers were good, interesting flavors and well presented.
Rib eye was a little embarrassing…. Less than 1/2”thick … half was medium and half was well done (ordered medium rare). I live in a “steakhouse” city so I will admit I am spoiled, but this was unfortunately a step above sizzler.
Not one to normally leave poor reviews but for the prices this place has a LOT of work to do.
