What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Harvest Room & Terrace offers a refined dining experience with generally positive reviews praising its exquisite cuisine, impeccable service, and beautiful ambiance, especially for high tea and special occasions. While many diners rave about the quality of food and the stunning river views, some have noted occasional issues with portion sizes or specific dishes not meeting expectations. Despite minor criticisms, it's frequently highlighted as a top-tier fine-dining establishment in Edmonton.
"We were so excited to try afternoon tea at the Hotel Macdonald, and it did not disappoint! The food and tea were all uniquely delicious. But I have to say, an experience is only as good as the customer service, and I cannot say enough good things about our server Michelle! From the very beginning, she was so personable, charming, and you could tell she truly cared for her customers. Highly recommend this gem!"

"We chose three courses for one person and main dish for another one. The appetite, 6 Canadian oysters, were not very tasty. The main dishes were Alberta Lake Trout and Alberta Beef Tenderloin. The tour one was too salty and oily. The beef one was very small in size with very thin asparagus. The dessert, chocolate cake would be the best one of all we ordered. It takes 45 minutes for the first dish, even though there were not many customers that needed to be served."

"The service was excellent, and the food was good (green smoothie was particularly tasty), but I was a little disappointed by the small portion size. I paid $25 for a breakfast sandwich with side of potatoes, and it came with only about 7 fingerling potatoes. I understand that the Fairmont is an up market brand, but they could be a little more generous at the prices they charge."
