What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Rosso Pizzeria is praised for its cozy atmosphere and authentic wood-fired pizzas, often highlighted as a top spot for Italian cuisine. While many rave about the intimate setting and friendly service, some diners have noted inconsistencies in pizza quality and occasional issues with seasoning or crust texture. Despite minor critiques, the restaurant remains a beloved choice for its commitment to fresh ingredients and charming dining experience.
"I came here the other day for the very first time and it was such a lovely experience. The restaurant is small making for an intimate and quiet dining experience but it’s not too cramped. Our server was seriously so kind and sweet. She was very accommodating and friendly (we needed a bigger table because we ordered so much food and she slid another table alongside ours right away). The food came out fast and was absolutely delicious. Their pasta special caught my eye right away. It had lemon butter, garlic, white wine, smoked salmon, scallops, lobster, crab, parsley and green onion. It was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered a few of the pizzas also amazing. We had their fig gelato for dessert and it too was delicious. I would 100% recommend this place. It’s a little hidden gem that is cozy and romantic, has phenomenal food and great service."

"We had a nice evening at Rosso Pizza. Service was fantastic—staff were very friendly and welcoming, and our table was ready right as we arrived for our reservation. We were a bit worried about parking beforehand, but it turned out to be no issue at all.
We were really looking forward to trying the Involtini appetizer. While it was presented nicely and had good elements, the flavor felt a bit unbalanced and it was quite under-seasoned. The pizza had great flavor as well, but unfortunately did not have enough basil and the crust was very dry and a bit tough, which made it difficult to enjoy fully.
One small letdown was that we didn’t get a last call for dessert before the kitchen closed, so we missed out on trying anything sweet to end the meal. That said, we completely understand that weekends can get busy, and we chalk it up to a one-time oversight.
Overall, the service and atmosphere were lovely, and we appreciated the warm hospitality. With a few tweaks, this could easily become a go-to spot."

"I wish I could give this restaurant 5 stars, however, there was a few things preventing me from doing so.
I called in to make a reservation for 6:30PM, however, I was told they don't have that availability, and they can squeeze me in for 6. Once we were seated, the restaurant was not even a quarter full and did not fill up during our time there (not sure why they couldn't accommodate 6:30).
Good luck trying to find parking, as all the spots are predominantly reserved for the dental clinic next door or other businesses.
The service was fairly slow. Between us ordering our drinks and actually receiving them, about 20 minutes had passed. Same thing with our order of hot beverages and dessert.
The food on the other hand was fairly good, and the pizza was authentically Italian wood fired. The ingredients tasted fresh. The Gelato was authentic, delicious and they had many flavors. I also wish they had a little bit better selection of appetizers.
In conclusion, difficult to access the location with mediocre service but food was great. Maybe adjust your reservation times as a suggestion, because I could've easily came at 6:30pm as a walk-in and there would have been tables available."

Campus Pizza - Sepp’s - High Dough - Rosso — Counter Culture
Back in Garneau, Rosso Pizzeria serves old-school, Neapolitan style pizza. This is hand-stretched dough with lovely, large, irregular bubbles that blister and burn in the intense heat of a wood oven. The sauce is essentially just crushed San Marzano tomatoes, and the cheese and toppings are sparse, letting the crispy, chewy dough shine.
