Our final and favourite stop in Edmonton, Bar Bricco reminded me of Toronto – small, dark and awesome food. Yet it didn’t have a bunch of people needing to “be seen” so maybe a better version of Toronto. A 28-seat Italian wine and spuntini (snack) bar, you must get the Eggs Moliterno ‘Cacio e Pepe’ Crostini.

In Edmonton, Chef Daniel Costa does impeccable justice to the dishes of his ancestors at Italian restaurant Bar Bricco. They don't take reservations, so be sure to come early. Another of Costa's restaurants, Corso 32, pairs delicate hand-made pasta with locally sourced ingredients to delight the taste buds.

Bar Bricco features an all-Italian wine list and sharing plates. The price point is on the higher side, but you can still find affordable options tucked among the $150 bottles of wine – their beer and cocktails are reasonably priced.

While Edmonton was left out of the picture for Canada's 100 Best Restaurants, three bars managed to earn a spot on the list with Clementine sitting at number 33, Bar Bricco at 40 and Baiju & Little Hong King at number 50.

Bar Bricco is all things Italy, so expect a superb wine list here. The service is friendly and prompt, and the staff is very knowledgable. There is a global beer menu and a solid grappa selection.

Yet another Corso 32 group restaurant makes the top 10 list for the datenight awards!. But are we really surprised?. We really can’t go wrong if Daniel Costa’s group is involved.
