Reviews Summary

Diners consistently praise Melissa's MisSteak for its generous portions, delicious food, and friendly, efficient service. The rustic log cabin atmosphere adds to the welcoming experience. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some minor comments occasionally mention slightly dense scrambled eggs.

"It was PERFECT! We went on Wednesday afternoon where we got happy hour drinks and appetizers. The service by gentleman Shawn was impeccable. The interiors had a great rustic cabin vibe with great chilling music. Best part was the food variety and happy hour prices. We tried prime ribs with stuffed yorkes, beef dip sandwich, & bison meatballs. All were good. Try the daily specials!"

Tania Paul

"We came here for lunch on a weekday around 1 PM, and the place still had plenty of seats, which was nice.
I ordered the Prime Rib Benny and it was so delicious! Instead of the usual English muffin, they used Yorkshire pudding, which had a slightly crispy shell and a fluffy, buttery inside. The beef was juicy and soaked into the pudding, and with the runny egg yolk on top, everything just came together perfectly🤤 I asked for the shredded potatoes to be crispy, and they came out golden and crunchy, exactly how I like them.

My partner got the fish and chips, and we were both really surprised by how big the fish was. It was a whole fillet, nicely fried, and the inside was still moist and soft, not dry at all. Definitely something we’d recommend.

The staff were friendly, and the prices felt pretty reasonable for the portion sizes and quality.
Overall, it was a really nice experience!"

"We've been here many times over the years. We know all the food is top notch, the food prices and portions are the best. Our waiter was amazing as well. Its a busy spot but the food comes out quite quickly.
Apparently they have the best French onion soup, I never tried it was it was a rave at our table. And those ribs on the appetizer menu are HUGE! We definitely will be coming back"

Locally owned and operated, Melissa’s, set in a historic building dating back to the early 20th century, offers breakfast until 4pm; burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads for lunch; and a choice of seafood, BBQ, steaks and other Canadian mains for dinner. The upstairs bar is where locals gather in the evening, featuring sports on plasma TVs, darts, pool, pinball and affordable drink specials.

Where to Eat in the Rocky Mountains

A Banff institution if there ever was one, Melissa’s feels pretty old school (and, quite honestly, a little long in the tooth), but that’s part of its charm. With a dinner menu full of steakhouse-style entrees Mel’s (as its known to locals) isn’t exactly cheap, and the food doesn’t match some of the more contemporary restaurants in town, but it is definitely worth a visit, if only for the nostalgia. If you’re feeling thrifty (and are up for a party) stop in for a bite in the legendary upstairs bar.
