This laid-back haunt serves traditional Italian gelato, made on-site by slow-churning imported whole milk. Using the finest natural ingredients sourced from across the globe – think organic hazelnuts from Vietnam and pistachios from Italy – all the sorbets are free from artificial preservatives and additives.

‘The nectar of the gods’ is just about the best description we have heard of the delicious goodness served up by Gelato Lab, located on the small lane of Alley West, along from Pub Street in Siem Reap’s Old Market area. This ice cream joint has a rightfully loyal following, and the extensive selection of ice creams and sorbets are freshly churned in-house each day, resulting in flavours and textures that we reckon are just about unbeatable. Choose from the likes of salted butter ice cream, as well as outstanding, vegan-friendly sorbets such as the Cioccolato organic 80% Papua New Guinea dark chocolate, Siem Reap mango and dragon fruit, sweet mandarin from southeastern Cambodia’s Kandal province, passion fruit from the Mondulkiri mountains in the east of the country, and strawberries from Chiang Mai in neighbouring Thailand.

For healthy foodies who want to satisfy their sweet tooth, Gelato Lab, an Italian-owned gelato bar offers a wide selection of ice cream treats that are made fresh daily with no artificial preservatives added. On the menu are Italian ice cream flavors like pistachio, caramel and tiramisu while their vegan sorbets are more of local flavors including mango, passion fruit, dragon fruit and sweet mandarin. If you are unsure of which flavors to try, their staff will be happy to let you sample first.

We visited Cambodia during the month of May and it was rainy, hot, and terribly humid. Gelato Lab was my savior on a warm afternoon exploring Siem Reap – all their ingredients are organic and locally sourced and they have a number of unique flavors including a couple of vegan sorbets!. The dragonfruit sorbet came highly recommended, and on a hot day, it did not disappoint!

The Gelato Lab is a scrummy ice-creamery specialising in authentic Italian-style gelato and sorbets, in both classic and Asian flavours, and good coffee. It’s located on the lane known as Alley West, between Old Market and Pub Street. The original Hospital Road branch closed a few months ago.

If you are heading to Siem Reap, Gelato Coffee and Lab should be on your bucket list. This cool little cafe with stylish decor offers a great selection of super yummy Italian gelato. They have both dairy and dairy-free ice cream options, all made of natural ingredients.

Some of the vegan flavors included: Mango, Mandarin, Strawberry, Dragonfruit, Passionfruit, and Chocolate. I went for the dragonfruit (mostly because I loved the vibrant pink color of it, haha) and it ended up being the perfect treat in the hot Southeast Asia weather!

The original Siem Reap choice for sumptuous home made ice creams and sorbets. There are a number of vegan flavours to choose from including the most decadent chocolate ice cream you’ve ever tasted. Shame that the cones aren’t vegan but we still love this place.

Having eaten our fill of gelato throughout Italy, we can honestly say that Gelato Lab makes some pretty good gelato!. It also benefits from all the fresh local fruits and nuts that go into making it daily. Spent a long hot day exploring the Angkor Wat Temples?

We sampled just about every flavour before deciding on ‘Cioccolato’ being 80% Organic Dark Chocolate from Papua New Guinea. You know those moments when you need chocolate, you get chocolate and it exceeds your desire?. Well we got that feeling.

After a full day of temple visiting, treat yourself to some delicious gelato at Gelato Lab . Just be sure to ask them which flavours contain alcohol in them ?. I’d suggest the dragon fruit gelato for a unique and refreshing dessert!

The gelato selection at Gelato Lab ( GoogleMaps) includes a few fruity flavors like passionfruit and dragonfruit which are so refreshing. Bring your own bamboo spoon as they use plastic spoons and the cone is not vegan.

For the delight of the little ones, stop at Gelato Lab, right in the city centre. They have the best ice cream available in Siem Reap, much better than the famous rolled ice cream, mostly made of sugar.

There is an amazing gelato café called Gelato Lab located in an alley off of pub street that has the most amazing passion fruit sorbetti – perfect for those of you who are dairy-free!

Siem Reap ‘s warm climate makes it an ideal place for a gelato. The first night, I went to Gelato Lab, within walking distance from the Khmer Kitchen, where I’d had just had dinner.
