Reviews Summary
Barú Marisquería is celebrated for its high-quality, fresh seafood with Latin American influences and a vibrant atmosphere. Many praise the unique flavor combinations and the attentive service, especially when seated at the counter. However, some diners have reported negative experiences with abrupt service from management, leading to feelings of dissatisfaction.
"What an amazing place. The food is great, the drinks are delicious, the staff is incredibly friendly and the spot is fantastic. Coming from a busy, crowdy and noisy street, it almost feels like you enter the silence of a green paradise. Barú Marisquera is my favorite place to go to in SaoPaulo from now on."

"All good vibes and good quality food!
I was lucky because I thought going there early at opening time 7pm would help me get a table but when I arrived everyone was already sitting and with a reservation.
The friendly girl greeted me and invited me at the limited counter space. I had the opportunity to see the chefs from close up and I had a beautiful experience.
Vibe was great and food quality did not disappoint!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND"

"Hit and miss. For starters, we had the scallop ceviche and octopus with shrimp ceviche which felt like they were aiming for Thai flavors but fell so flat. Just go for Krapook Khao to scratch that itch if you want spice and all things nice. However, there were redeeming dishes here which are great. The fried whole shrimp were simply flavorful juicy bombs so I will recommend that. We also enjoyed the kimchi prawn rice though the prawn was soggy, as the kimchi tasted ultra umami and smoky. Kudos for the extra flavor profile introduced. You should definitely order the grilled octopus too as that is so tender and juicy. Service is quite good though, we were well taken care of."

These restaurants are very important and bringing quality dining across a broad section of diners,” says Poullennec, “and here, in these restaurants, traditional Brazilian restaurants can be experienced along with international influences imported by some of these globetrotting chefs.” In São Paulo, A Baianeira, Colombian chef Dagoberto Torres’s Barú Marisquería, modern-Korean restaurant Komah, Cesar Costa's Corrutela and Balaio IMS are new entrants. And in Rio de Janeiro, chef Lucio Vieira’s Lilia and chef Elia Schramm’s Pici Trattoria, which “combines classic Italian recipes and Brazilian recipes,” per inspectors, also receive Bib Gourmand status.

There’s a pan-Latin American vibe to this alleyway restaurant, named after the Colombian island where its chef learnt to swim. The focus is on seafood, with influences from around the continent, resulting in dishes like Colombian patacones and Peruvian ceviche. The trick is to order at least one thing from each of the four main sections, loosely translated to “crunchy,” “raw and spicy,” “grilled,” and “pot-cooked.” The cooks are a dab hand at balancing sour, salt, and spice, so the scallop ceviche sings, especially with its crispy chili sauce reminiscent of Chinese lao gan ma.
