"Classic Brazilian old school bar experience. One of the best "pastéis" in town and years of tradition. They offer other lunch and pastries options but the pastéis are what they are most known for. Particularly, meat, cheese and dried meat with cream cheese are great options. Don't forget to pair it with a draft beer, guarana soda or pineapple juice!"

"Place is famous for its “pastel” and its time in the market - more than 100 years since its opening.
Have been there on a Saturday. Place was busy but not full.
1) no enough waiters forced us to wait for more than 15 minutes until I decided to stand up and fight for someone to approach to take the order.
2) while we were waiting, any waiters or employees had the decency to sustain some sort of eye contact.
3) i ordered 3 pasteis and 1 cod fish pastry. Food came in 2 minutes and was: not fried enough, all of them extremely oily, not in the proper temperature. I had the impression I was eating a rubber pastry.
Pastelaria Carioca is a living proof that you can reach the top in the market BUT to maintain yourself there, requires hard work and commitment. Super bad experience."
