Reviews Summary

Diners rave about Zazá Bistrô Tropical's enchanting atmosphere and eclectic menu, highlighting unique global flavors and excellent vegetarian options. While the food and service generally receive high praise, some guests mention long wait times without reservations, and one review noted a discrepancy on the bill.

"This is an elegant restaurant located in the heart of Ipanema that features an appealing menu of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes influenced by South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine. I had the tuna with lemon crust and it was delicious. The restaurant also has an impressive selection of beverages both alcoholic and non alcoholic including an extensive wine list. I had a detox ice tea and it was refreshing. The ambiance here is elegant but casual and suitable for families or a romantic dinner for two. The service staff was courteous, professional and my server spoke good English - the menu is also available in English. I highly recommend this fine establishment and would definitely dine here again."

Peter Kapshuk

"Nice environment for indoor or outdoor dining. They have a separate small vegan menu in addition to their full menu including meat and fish options. The service we received was really good, very attentive including cleaning the table and wiping it down in between courses. Nice drink and good selection."

Jacob Hyzer

"What a wonderful restaurant! The vegetarian options are amazing! It took us a while to find our best dining in Rio this week! Please stay in business. We traveled many places but I don’t remember good food as you served us tonight."

Eating at Zazá is like doing a time-walk straight into the 60s, thanks to an eclectic, hippie-chic interior where diners are encouraged to sit on brightly coloured pillows on the floor. The (fairly) healthy menu has a global feel with a strong Asian influence and some decent vegetarian options – a rarity in Brazil. Good for intimate group dining or a smoking hot date.

I had never tried such an expensive plate of Arroz de Pato before coming here, but the taste and ambiance made up for the price. The interior decorations are top-notch, even inside the bathrooms, with great quotes plastered along the walls. The appetizers and desserts are about half the price range I listed, starting at $R35.
