Reviews Summary

Lasai offers an intimate and innovative fine dining experience, celebrated for its creative tasting menus and exceptional service. Diners often praise the personal atmosphere and the chef's artistry with local ingredients. However, a few reviews mention concerns about pacing and seasoning, suggesting that while the overall experience is highly regarded, individual preferences can vary.

"Wonderful dinner full of natural flavors, beautiful combinations, and Michelin-star service!

Dinner for 3 at Lasai last night. 9 beautifully prepared snacks using local ingredients, finished with 3 mains featuring seafood and pork. Loved the unique combination of flavors and the various preparations. Favorites were the oxtail served with auberge and on an auberge bread, and flan with Uni! I’m a bread lover, and having three distinct types of bread was a big plus.

Service was fantastic, they were well staffed, attentive, always watching our glasses to top up on wine or water and solicitous.

Decent value for a 2-Michelin star restaurant, I can see it’s well deserved. Congratulations Lasai - would recommend!

Only including a few photos to not spoil the surprise for the next guest, even though they often change their menu to adjust for availability of fresh ingredients."

Richard Kwok

"I know it’s all subjective, but I was disappointed. The 9 snacks were just too much and the bread was over the top, the mains were ok. I didn’t enjoy the wine pairing - again it’s personal taste - but what impacted my rating was that with only 11 people in the restaurant you would think that the many staff would be aware of each guest. Like when they forgot to tell me what I was eating or when the waiter poured sparkling water on top of the still water and I had to ask the waiter to change the glass or when the kitchen staff left at the end of service and didn’t thank the guests or when the waiter chased me to the door to pay the bill I had paid 10 mins earlier. It’s not my first time at this restaurant and I keep coming back hoping I will like it - and it’s just not for me."

Karen Powell

"Lasai offers an exceptional dining experience where every detail feels thoughtfully orchestrated. The intimate seating arrangement creates a warm, personal atmosphere that draws you closer to the artistry on the plate. There’s a sense of calm sophistication that invites true appreciation of the meal based on the limited seating. The setting feels exclusive without being pretentious — a perfect backdrop for a restaurant that celebrates simplicity and depth in every dish.

What truly elevates Lasai, however, is the flawless execution by the entire team. From the precise pacing of courses to the intuitive, welcoming service, every moment is handled with genuine care and expertise. The kitchen’s focus on seasonal Brazilian ingredients is matched by a service staff who move with quiet confidence, making the experience feel effortless yet highly refined. It’s clear that everyone at Lasai operates with a shared dedication to excellence, creating a meal that feels both intimate and unforgettable."

Rio De Janeiro's Michelin Star Restaurants

Lasai earned its first Michelin star one year after it first opened in 2012 and has maintained its success every year since. Chef Rafa Costa e Silva works with local small farmers and producers for ingredients, yet cultivates about 40% of his menu from his own garden, where he raises free-range chickens for eggs and grows different vegetables and legumes. Rafa mixes cooking techniques that he learned in the U.S.A. and Spain with quality local ingredients to create a fresh, rotating menu of contemporary Brazilian cuisine.
