Reviews Summary

Karuzo is lauded as an exceptional vegetarian and vegan destination, offering unique, chef-prepared dishes in a cozy, intimate setting. Diners rave about the genius flavors and personalized service from the owner-chef, Saša Obućina. While the intimate atmosphere and one-man operation mean reservations are crucial and patience is needed, the experience is consistently described as a hidden gem and a culinary highlight of Sarajevo.

"My favorite spot in Sarajevo! The most delicious chef prepared meals of my life! Sasa is a magician in the kitchen! Can't wait to come back and try his new specialties!"

Perlona

"Honestly the best vegetarian/vegan meal we have ever had anywhere. Sasha the owner/chef is clearly a genius with flavour. And what we loved even more was that it looks like a bit of a dump from the outside but inside it's a bohemian delight. This place needs big time awards for the food. Excellent 👌👍"

Skin Dude

"The restaurant is very cozy and you can only eat here if you have a reservation. I think that makes this restaurant even more special because it’s a one man show here. Saša hosts you and you truly get the private chef experience.

We ordered the Buddha bowl and baked seitan with Thai veggies. We both loved our dishes. The portions are huge and definitely shareable. We also ordered the raw cheesecake and chocolate apple cubes for dessert, which were incredible!

This place truly deserves all the Michelin stars. You will love it! 💗"

Top Restaurants In Sarajevo, Bosnia

Sarajevo may be a meat-lover’s paradise, but vegetarians should head over to Karuzo, which is located at the non-numbered end of Dženetića Čikma Street. The only meat-free and smoke-free place in the city, Karuzo is leading a health revolution in Sarajevo. Though the restaurant’s owner and chef Saša Obučin jokes that meat dishes such as the burek and ćevapčići have attained the status of national symbols, this small restaurant has become so popular that it’s nearly impossible to get a seat without making a reservation in advance.

Karuzo - While it doesn't serve traditional Bosnian food, this restaurant features a vegetarian/fish based menu, with a mostly Italian influence (although sushi is also available). The Pasta dishes are also highly recommended. It's a very intimate restaurant seating only 18 at a time and the chef takes your order prepares the food and serves it himself.

Best Restaurants for Vegetarians and Vegans in Sarajevo, Bosnia

Karuzo is a fully vegetarian restaurant (not vegan, but they do have many options). The menu is kind of…oddly extensive, with lots of dishes from different cuisines, but that just contributes to the quirky vibe. It has an old school, slightly haphazard atmosphere that’s big on charm and makes a unique spot for dinner.

Vegetarian Restaurants in Sarajevo

The restaurant is cosy and intimate and, despite what seems like an overly extensive menu, the food is good. My issues, though both small, are the general need to plan ahead to eat here. You may not get a table (even if there is space if you don't book ahead) and it can take a decent while for the food to arrive.
