"What an incredible restaurant!
The best value tasting menu with high quality ingredients, superb cuts of fish, meat and vegetables and so much fun.
One of the courses they asked us to guess what we were trying which was such a fun and mindful experience of the food. An exquisite balance between sweet, sour, bitter, crispy and novel flavours for all the dishes. For example there was a whipped sour butter with cacao nibs which with the fresh steaming bread was incredible. Some of the things I wouldn’t have said I would enjoy for instance I didn’t think I liked camomile but in the ice cream and drink it tasted so light and refreshing. It gives a new perspective on ingredients.
Of note was the pork belly with a homemade tamale and a kimchi sauce.
We had the 8 course menu and I was stuffed after perhaps half the food but it was so well portioned I managed the whole meal! Great cocktails and again so cheap and interesting.
The service is exceptional - all the servers were so kind and polite and spoke to us in amazing Spanish and English. They also offered to call us a taxi and small details like making sure we had water or seeing if we wanted some time between mains and dessert to relax.
We also loved watching the chefs preparing everything with such precision and attention to detail as there are windows to watch the kitchen.

The only thing we did not like is that we did see a chef check the food with a spoon and put the same spoon back into the food after it was in his mouth. Michelin star Gustu’s, ranks amongst the 50 best restaurants in South America and is apparently the best restaurant in town. We chose the traditional Bolivian menu which consisted of 9 or 10 courses which I can’t really remember anymore. It was just a lot but due to the small sizes of the dishes absolutely ok and we were pleasantly full after almost 3 hours in Gustu’s.
