Yesterday morning feeling so much better I ‘hit’ the veranda nice and early ((think it was around 03.30 hours – the benefit (or is it penalty?) for going to bed early the previous night)) I enjoyed a couple of mugs of coffee whilst reading The Times online (and how lucky Arsenal were), got ready and headed to Estel’s for breakfast, getting there shortly after 07.00 hours.

Estel’s Dine by the Sea – we had a kitchen so spent most mornings cooking up our own bacon and eggs, but treated ourselves to one brunch at Estel’s. The menu is written on chalkboard, so figure out what you want to eat, order, and then take a seat and enjoy the ocean view. We had yummy shrimp and lobster omelets but whatever you get, you must order fry jacks!.

Estel’s: Estel’s is located in San Pedro (shocker, I know) and is right by the water taxi dock, so it’s super convenient to visit on your arrival or departure day!. We visited for breakfast on the day we left right before we caught the water taxi and tried the Mayan Special – it’s a plate of flapjacks (fried dough), topped with eggs, ham, and beans.

You can always find a great breakfast here on the Caye, but the best spot in town to get the “FRY JACK” which is the traditional Belizean dish. These deep-fried dough pieces can be served many different ways. If scrambled eggs if your morning dish, try them filled in a fry jack, add some bacon, ham or sausage and don’t forget some melted cheese.

Located on Front Street along the beach next to Central Park this is one of our favorite spots for breakfast in San Pedro. Sit at one of the beach tables where you can have your toes in the sand as you enjoy your breakfast. This is also where we had our first taste of Marie Sharp’s hot sauce, one of the best hot sauces we have ever tasted.

Grab breakfast at Estel’s (walk along the beach to avoid golf cart traffic). Be prepared for the seaweed in the morning – it’s a little bit smelly, but there are seemingly endless people employed to rake it away (I’m not sure how I feel about this). We happened to be there during an especially bad week for seaweed, but we didn’t mind.

I was planning to hook up with them at the pimpNho party but good ole San Pedro synchronicity made it happen sooner with Mitch and Sev this morning at Estel’s breakfast so they quickly got on the dinner plan. The Truck Stop is an area on the way to Secret Beach that’s comprised of shipping containers turned food park. Tons of different eating options are available here and they’re open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 9 PM.
