I think about this dish a lot…simple yet innovative, experiential, delicious…synchronized timing front and back of house. All local ingredients…a chef is lucky to have one or two of these ideas in their life. I think restaurant Steirereck in Vienna, Austria executes this idea better than anyone else. #delicious

Reviews Summary

Steirereck offers a celebrated fine-dining experience with innovative Austrian cuisine and impeccable service. Diners frequently praise the exceptional bread and cheese trolleys, the elegant ambiance in Stadtpark, and the overall culinary journey. However, some reviews mention occasional inconsistencies in seasoning or pacing, and the lack of air conditioning in warmer months has been noted as a detractor.

"Very good overall.
We had the 6 course tasting menu and the highlight was the bread trolley (esp blood sausage bread), eel and piglet tail dishes.
My only complain was that main course which was the quail - exceptionally over salted. In addition, we didn’t really enjoy the wine pairing with the food as well."

ShuZhen Chua

"A culinary experience of a lifetime. One of the top rated restaurants in the World and they deserve it.

Nestled in the middle of a park you wouldn’t think much of it but you walk in and it’s beautiful. The wait staff and servers were friendly and attentive throughout.

They have tasting menu that was carefully planned out, with unique flavor combinations and masterful cooking technique. Every item we tried was good and kept us asking for more.

Definitely worth trying while in Vienna."

Jeremy Alfano

"Steirereck was a truly unforgettable 3 Michelin star experience—our first, and it lived up to every bit of the hype. My partner and I celebrated our first dinner after getting engaged here, making it extra special. The service was impeccable, with assorted bar carts rolling out cheeses, breads, and spirits, turning the meal into a journey. Each course came with details on ingredient sourcing and flavors, keeping us engaged. Spanning about 4 hours, the dinner was full of delightful surprises beyond what we ordered. Ranked #22 in the world for 2025, it’s an amazing milestone celebration—worth every moment!"

Steirereck review – eating out in a Vienna park before sunset

Steirereck is an unusual restaurant since its premises are located within one of Vienna’s city parks – the Stadtpark. The Stadtpark isn’t Vienna’s most picturesque green space and the exterior of Steirereck’s building isn’t much to look at either, but that all changes once you enter the subdued dining room. The gilded flower-like light fixtures are tastefully elegant and there’s much to be said for simply staring out the window, admiring the pale, golden, winter sunshine as it shimmers off the leaves of the trees outside.

Eating & Drinking in Vienna

Due to poor planning (ie me not bothering to make reservations) we weren’t able to eat at some highly recommended restaurants like Pfarrwirt, Freyenstein, Steirereck. We did, however, have an amazing, long, and late lunch at Am Nordpol, where we disgusted delighted our lovely server Astrid by ordering way too much food, finishing it all, then ordering dessert. Their roast pork with sauerkraut was outstanding saurkraut and Jack finally got the käsekrainer.
