"This place has a fantastic setup, with plenty of seating both inside and out. But the real star is the outside area; it's super cute and green, absolutely perfect for enjoying a meal when the weather's good. The staff here are also a plus; they're friendly and genuinely welcoming.
The food was good overall. I've had slightly better elsewhere, but it definitely hit the spot. It's the kind of place I'd happily bring family visiting from out of town. "waited quite a lot for our food (probably bc it was freshly fried, but that’s just nonsense when someone arrives later than us and gets to pay until we receive main), the schnitzel (pork) was average, had bigger expectations. Service wasn’t the best, at some point we didn’t know when to expect food. Once told to one waiter, it arrived soon.
Probably a busy weekend, but I guess you csn find better schnitzel for your buck and better places. Obviously the closeness of museums are a big pro."

When I was in Vienna in March, I had trout at Glacis Beisl in the Museum Quarter (but it was very bony and I didn't do the world's greatest job of pulling the bones out), a delicious seafood appetizer at Steierereck and almost ordered the fish (pike perch, I believe) at Zum Weissen Rauchfangkehrer--I saw some other diners having it and they seemed quite pleased. None of those dishes were fried. Last year, I had a beautiful grilled trout at Meinl am Graben--one of my best fish meals ever (this year I had steak).

Glacis Beisl is a slightly more modern offering of Viennese cuisine with a fantastic Austrian wine list from their partner vineyards (everything we tasted was excellent) and who take extreme care to use local suppliers – in the evenings, it is really worth booking a table which you can do online. I had a decent salmon tartare to start, ut the real star was J’s cream of parsnip soup, which was one of the best we’d ever tasted. He adored his perfectly cooked rack of lamb with bacon wrapped green beans and a root vegetable gratin, and I was equally enamoured by my Polish pierogi filled with curd cheese, though after that lunch I only managed half the dish, coming as they did deliciously loaded up with butter, sour cream and chives.

A restaurant has been here since the 1940s, set on the old city walls, but it’s now headed by Paul Bodner, a natural wine enthusiast, hence the extensive menu of biodynamic and orange wines.
